base gasket or no base gasket?

I got the gaskets in, about to put it back together (got 11:1's, 82mm). I have heard of people not running the base gasket to get more compression, what does everyone think about doing that?

Don't tempt fate; put the gasket in. You've already gone up to 11:1.
