Eton 05/2 stroke 90CC Transmission issue
#1
It was working but then stopped while my son was riding it.
Appears the 2005 Eton trans has had some work done before. On closer look I saw one bolt missing and two strip Phipps screw bolts on the transmission cover.
We just put a top end in this quad. It runs fine but no longer moves
Wondering if the transmission gear oil is low? I'll check that. Any other ideas or known issues.
Thanks,
Also. I'm looking for a ATV Eton 2006 4stroke frame and rear swing arm parts.

belt looks good, I check the gear oil, drain it, and I'll have to get some more.
Must be the clutches. great=banghead.
I must have bought a lemon.
Paid 250.00 IIRC went to Maryland to pick-it up - (six hours round trip). Pop in a top end kit ($189.00) and it ran and worked for about two days. The weird thing is it was not slipping or anything. How can I tell if it's the clutch? Is there an adjustment for the belt?
BTW, anyone have a service manual for the 2005 Eton 90cc RXL 2-stroke quad or know where I can download it free?
I know I can buy it here.

Edit:
I found my problem,
After checking the belt and removing the exhaust plastic side cover which cover the sprocket it was obvious.
The problem is the Final Drive shift which is part of the transmission,
number 5 pictured here.

The sprocket has worn down the final drive shift to the point that this is little left for the sprocket to engage the drive shaft to make it turn. A new sprocket and drive shift will be needed to fix properly.
Temporary fix is to either weld the sprocket on the shaft or place washers behind the sprocket to keep it at the location where the notches are.
I might try to fix this right. Not sure yet. I may just piece it back together with washers and spacers.

The washer idea did not work as there was not enough teeth on the old drive shaft for the sprocket to bolt too. Hence, either weld it or repair it. For $48.00, I picked up the shaft the sprocket retainer plate and gear oil for the repair. Can't be but so hard.
We will see I guess.

We have replace the drive shaft but we are having issues getting the belt over both pulleys
We are thinking that if we leave the belt in the sun for an hour it will alloy some flexibility so we can slide it over both pulleys.

Fixed it. You have to compress the clutch spring and then while doing so slide the belt on the pulleys both front and back. All good. Now time to bolt this thing back up.
It helps to have two people. One to compress the spring on the rear clutch assembly while the other rotates the front pulley to get the belt on.

Well. I don't know why but once I put everything back together the bike does not have enough tension to pull itself. I guess the belt is not on right or it is not tight.
If you place the 90 cc eton on a jack it turns freely under it's own power, revs up and the rear wheels are moving. Place it on the ground and it barely pulls itself. For the most part it won't. Any ideas?
Looks like I'm going to have to remove that side cover again.and inspect the clutches and belt.=banghead.

Is there anyone on this forum who knows these bikes?
Got it all back together finally and lean a lot in the process but the little bike simply has a few minor issues I'm trying to figure out. Seems the clutch system does not engage properly when you come to a stop. It does not do this all the time but does do it. As if the clutch or belt is slipping. Need to locate how to adjust the clutch and belt tension on this thing. Maybe that will help.
At least it moves now when it wants to

There is no adjustment on a cvt.
You need to take the side cover off to inspect the clutchs.
Once the side cover is off you'll need to remove both the front and rear clutchs.
Check the rollers in the front for flat spots and such. Check the rear bearings and squeeze it together to check the sliding travel.
OOPS, I see in the earlier post you did this and all is well?
You mean it don't disengage properly?

Yeah still some issues with it but it moves most of the time. From time to time if you slow down from full speed to a stop, it seems it takes the bike a bit of time before it switches to first gear. I'll inspect those clutches again and possible replace the belt.
Thanks.
Thanks.
