i got on the small atv this morning to make sure all was okay before my daughter got on there. I am a paranoid person. The exhaust gets really hot and smells, is this normal since it is new. Also, it is quiet but when you push the gas, it is like a loud noise of air escaping from somewhere. There is a filter close or above the carb, is the noise of escaping air normal. I just want to make sure my fat butt did not mess up anything, but again, I was not going to let her ride it without testing it. Other than that, everything is and runs great.

are you talking about a rush of air that is being sucked into the carb/air filter area? make sure the air filter element is properly seated. in order to "test" the quad for safety, if you think you're too big, put the quad up on blocks or an atv jack and rev it up and listen/look at it. sure the new has to wear off, but pay particular attention to the exhaust side of the cylinder and watch it. if the exhaust pipe starts turning red and maybe smells super bad, you may need to adjust the rich/lean mixture screw. if it turns red, it's too lean. that's be something to watch during the break-in period. another thing i've noticed on china quads is that the exhaust heat shield may let a little more heat by than normal and the plastics may get really warm. have your babygirl watch out for the hot exhaust system(her legs and feet). it'll help her learn more about the quad. good luck

I know I am too big for it but I was not gonna let her on it before I checked everything especially the speed. It is like it is taking in or releasing air just when the throttle is pushed, other than that it is extremely quiet, is this normal. Also, the exhaust is not getting as hot as you stated. I checked the plastic and it is not getting hot like you stated, even though that was my first thought. But the exhaust is extremely hot, I guess you answered that question in that is normal. Never noticed that on my yamaha or kawasaki but this is chinese. It runs good and my daughter loves it but just wondering about the air sound when throttle pushed and the new smell that really stinks around the exhaust at the foot rest.

please don't misconstrue what i said. i was not suggesting that you are too big for the machine. i was not stating that the exhaust was turning red, i was just stating that the pipe was something to watch in case the mixture was needing some adjustment. And i was just putting some information out there to you about things that i've encountered on the chinese quads i've had in the past such as the heat shield not being beefy enough to knock the heat off of the right leg area and the pipe trying to melt/soften the quad plastics in that area. but i'm glad she likes it and hope she has lots of fun on the quad.
