LT80 Chain Tensioner
#1
I plan to replace the worn out OEM chain & sprockets on a recently acquired '05 LT80 with what seems to be the preferred 428-44L 13/26 setup ($65). My question is: Will I need to purchase the Chain Tensioner ($39) available from MWM, JLATV, & QPS to eliminate any slack, or is there a better alternative? I don't mind spending the $ if it does what it's supposed to do. I already experimented with a used pair of the MWM "long travel" front shocks that I purchased on ebay ($69) & promptly returned because they threw the camber off way too much. THANKS!

I just saw your PM.
If you go to 428 gearing at 13/26 and use #40 chain, no tensioner is needed.
I'm pretty sure if you use the 428 chain, you may need a tensioner.
The tensioner your buddy <EG> at MMW sells is OK.

Based on your reply I'll wait to see if I need the Chain Tensioner until after I order & install the new 13/26 sprockets w/the 428-44L OEM chain that I have. Thanks again!
