I must be a moron! Eton Viper 90R dies when shifting.

Need some help guys, please. I have an 05 Viper 90R that dies when shifting. Starts and runs great when in neutral but dies immediately upon shifting then the dash lights start flashing. New CDI box ending in M3, new stator, freshly cleaned carb, shift motor removed and checked out good, brake switch works. No sound whatsoever is made when changing the transmission switch. Im leaning towards a bad ignition switch or selector switch. According to the tech bulletin I got from the website the ignition switch is bad but upon talking with an auto electric mechanic he thinks the bulletin is backwards. Testing across the red and brown wires with the switch off I have current, switch on/no current. Ive tried resetting the CDI/transmission with the whole F for 3 seconds/R for 3 seconds/ N for 3 seconds and no help. Ive got to admit Im a complete doofus when it comes to electronics, just trying to muddle through it with my basic knowledge. Ive read lots of great stuff on here including things that sound exactly like mine but none of them have a conclusion. Any help would be appreciated, my little girls are waiting as patiently as 5 and 6 year olds can. Thanks

I worked on one once. The reverse models have a lil bit to be desired.
How about finding the wires for the F-N-R safety switch and sorts jump them together.
Hmm, My Kymco needs the brake applied to shift into gear or it'll die.
Sir, Etons are fine quality machines..Just not the reverse models. Sorry.

Old Post but I am going to post here and maybe it would help someone else out because I see this question asked a lot.
I I just recently purchased one also and had the same problem.
It has a safety feature that will shut off the motor if trying to shift when the revs are too high, so make sure you have the back brake held in and let the engine idle down to normal before you try to shift, and also wait a second in between each shift also.
But it will die every time if the idle is too high.
Hope this helps.

Eton 90 r quad dies when shifting into foreward or reverse...
I have one of these quads and pondered this issue for a while finally figuring out that it was actually the wiring Connections in the brake lever required depressed for safety to actually put in gear having difficulty finding or ordering the part replacement what I did to confirm that this was in fact the problem and also correct it permanently was secretly likes those two wires together and put it all back and not tell my kids which has worked fine as they have never treated it any different always knowing they need to pull the brake to put the bike in gear have never had a problem since I guess I'm a person that firmly believes if a child cannot follow those protocols religiously they're probably not safe on a quad like this either way people should always exercise caution including kids when operating motorized vehicles equipment Etc because people can get hurt and lose their lives safety should be taught first and foremost before ever operating a vehicle like this nevertheless for anybody trying to figure out the issue it's most always going to be in the brake lever connection itself so I would start there
