Okay, so I got hurt and we have not ridden in about 7 months. SO, I drained the tank, put new gas in it. Pulled the carb, cleaned it... this one has the sunsport carb or sun something... checked to make sure the cable was working right... and it won't idle. I put some seafoam in it to help clean the lines. I got it running, and it acts like it wants to get up on the pipe like it should at full throttle. But if you let off, it wants to backfire every once in a while.
Here is the kicker, put the choke on slightly, and it will RIP. I mean it will bark the tires in the garage. Ran fine before sitting. I have played with the idle screw, and checked the throttle cable top and bottom... what did I miss?

Doesn't take long for the crappy gas we get now days to varnish up from ethanol attracting water. If you have to have the choke on for it to rip as you say, then you probably need to go back through the carb as this is a sign of running lean especially if it pops back. Still could be a little varnish in the jets or orifices and make sure the small orifice in the carb bowl is open. Spray carb cleaner with a nozzle and compressed air, plus always handy to keep one of these in the tool box.
Gas was brand new from the store... Are there any other adjustments on this carb? I know there is another screw, might be float level adjustment? IDK...
