Default Spark plug change

I've just purchased a new spark plug for my sons 90cc quad. However the old one has just a thin threaded top and yet the new one has a fat gold top? They are the same number plug, A7TC. When I looked inside the spark plus cap, it seemed that there was a gold part inside it. Can I remove the gold part from the new plug or from inside the cap?

Sorry to be thick, but I'm new to all this!

Sounds like it either vibrated off or stripped off the plug. You can try to get the part out of the plug cap with out damaging anything or worst case scenario unscrew the cap from the new plug(if it unscrews) and see if it fits snug in the plug cap.

Ok sound thanks.
If I get some snipe nose pliers and try to pull/twist it out, is there much I can damage?
Thanks again

Not if you careful, plus NGK plug caps are fairly cheap if you do whether it's a 45 or 90 degree cap or even a straight cap. Almost all cycle/atv shops carry them, plus many auto supplies.
