Apollo 110cc oil leak
#1
Hello everyone,
I have a Chinese ATV for my kids. It's an Apollo Mikro 110cc and is just over a year old. It's not heavily ridden, so still pretty low hours as well. Today I noticed it smoking from the exhaust so I had my son park it.
After checking it out I could see oil around the opening of the exhaust pipe.
I did some searching on the web and found similar circumstances but honestly it seemed like their situation was more complicated since they had done aftermarket upgrades, quad had been sunk, etc. Etc.
Just looking for some input on where to start looking before I start taking it apart.
Thanks in advance,
-Brandon

Check you have the oil level correct. Check that oil hasn't got onto the air filter, breathers usually go from crankcase to air filter, so leaning it over too far, can lead to oil getting to the air filter. If those are not the cause, check compression, a partial seizure could have scored the bore enough to cause smoking.

UPDATE:
I pulled the spark plug and there is no oil (fortunately) found in another forum, it could be the valve seals. The only issue with that is, the whole head has to be taken off and disassembled. Anyone else have experience with these seals going bad?

With valve seals you get lots of smoke on start up, then it clears, though you may get a puff when you close the throttle. This normally occurs on high mileage engines, though I don't know if those little Honda clone engines are prone to it. Do the compression test, a seizure is far more likely.
