Default Gas Gas update

i have a 300 2-stroke, had it about 2 weeks now... so far, it's running strong. went to oregon dunes with it this weekend(first time out), took it easy mostly doing break-in, but finally opened it up a little on the second day... it is one fun ride. softening the comression on the front shocks by a few clicks made the whoops a little easier on the body.
my one complaint is the leaky gas cap.

mods so far: LTR jet kit, powervalve cover, 120mm suspension links, sand tires.... more to come, i'm sure

Dual Sporter

I've been told that by putting a large o-ring in between the existing gasket and the cap assembly will eliminate the leaky gas cap.

I got one. It's screaming like a raped age. My is a pre-production model and I've experienced some overheating and over pressurizing issues. The overheating was fix by changing to the new larger radiator. GasGas is working with me on the overpressurizing issue still. I think I have it solve. I'll know after this weekend. As for other stuff I done, I had to replace the a-arms do to being too wide. GT Thunder -2's got me down to 47" and changed the caster setting to reduce the stiff steering. I've added the factory steering damper along with all of the LTR components. I've also had Ohlins revalve the front shocks and remove the internal spacers. Ohlins rep also put the dirtbike shaft in the rear shock (20mm larger) and I'm planning on converting it to a dual rated set up this weekend at the GNCC race, if the rep gets the springs in time. I'm currently sitting in 17th place in the open b class at the GNCC and that is with one DNF and 3 poor races do to the radiator issues.

Thanks guys, I've been following you 2 but I was hoping to hear from some new 450 owners too. I am still leaning towards the 4 stroke this fall. Glad to hear that all continues to go well for you. -RT

Default Gas Gas update

Hi I am living in spain and I have the Wild 450 from Gas Gas. It is an amazing quad plus it has a quite a few upgrades from the 300 A-arms shocks seat hight, but from what i see in the American Mags is that the old shocks are still there and on the 450 i would make sure that you get it with the newer shocks because it is a big change, apart from that the engine is amazing so much low end mid range and top end is about 90 mph. only one draw back is steering is heavy, i loosend mine up as much as poss but still will have to do something in end. ok

No mods needed yet it comes with a load anyhow thinking about getting it re mapped soon though.

Trx you might what to see what Mickey Dunlap and Chad Duvall think of the 450. I sure in a little over a month Mickey will have a review and maybe some race results on the 450.

I also agree with Wilddez on getting one with the newer front end and the steering issue is easily fixed with different a-arms.

Look for a post after this weekend on my results.

I think I sent you guys some pix of the new shocks on the 450 that was @ Hard Rocks Gas Gas in Phoenix. I will get one when the weather cools down later this year. I just want to stay on top of what's going on.

I wouldn't mind reverse on the 450 like Dez is reporting, my 450 will be for riding the dunes and the mountains at 8000ft plus. It doesn't have to be the lightest just the best equipped for every riding situation Arizona/SoCal/Utah has to offer. Fuel injection and reverse, as long as there is 40hp stock w/ a spark arrestor available, I'm in.

Dirwheels did a shootout between the GasGas 450 and the Polaris Predator. For the review check out this link:
GasGas vs Predator

There is no top speed mph record in the article but it states that the only thing the predator has over it is the top speed that makes the predator the fastest current production quad and the GasGas quads fall in the second spot. I will say this though the GasGas quads tend to gain preformance after the engine is broke in. Mine has a night and day difference in how the engine feels after I logged 5-7 races on it. One question for everone how many GNCC/harescrambles is a 2-stroke average before a ring job. Mine has logged in 6 GNCC's and about 5 or 6 local harescrambles and it is still running like it was brand new. My old quadracer was lucky to get more than 10 races without needed to be reringed.

Hi,

I have the 450, have had it 6 weeks and it is great. Have got some small mods on the
front end to lighten the steering.Basically changing the angle of the A arms.

I am not a particularly experienced rider but compared to my banshee it is a dream to ride...

The only problem is 'hot starts'....ran a two hour enduro and it stalled a couple of times and was a pig
to get going..any tips?

So far it is holding togethere well!!

any questions please ask..

Tom
