I put a DG exhust on my sons 04 Arctic Cat 50. This exhust doesn't have the expansion chamber like the stock exhust has. I was wondering If the stock exhust would be better than the DG? Or should I get a pipe from WRH or Hetrick. I added alot of other mods on when we put the DG pipe on so I don't know if the DG pipe helped at all. Here is a list of mods I put on to help answer the question. Malossi clutch kit, DRR cdi, Malossi reed block and fiber reeds, Twin air filter and modifyed air box,95 main jet,changed sprockets from a 50 t rear to a 32t, changed wheel sizes went to larger dougles alum 16x6.5x8 and holeshot tires, the stock set were way to small for XC racing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, since you're asking the question, I'm guessing you're not impressed. After installing several other pipes on various machines, my overwhelming reaction has always been WOW. If you didn't have that reaction, I'd start looking elsewhere. A good performance pipe (with a decent size expansion chamber) will double the stock hp. That's easily noticeable by the rider. 10-20%, maybe not. Next to porting/cylinder, there's no single engine part you can add that can add that much performance.

 

If the pipe doesn't have an expansion chamber it is probably not as good as the stock unit.The arctic cats have a pretty decent designed pipe compared to most mini's.I haven't heard good things about DG pipes in general,wether it be for dirt bikes or snowmobiles or whatever.A lot of times of heard of power loss compared to the stock pipe.If your looking for more power I would contact the guys you mentioned.
