Default LT 80 CASE BRACING

Hey! What does everyone think about welding the extra aluminum straps on the top, bottom, and sides of cases for additional strength? We race a little MX and have seen a few of these Lt's crack. I have also heard that the heat from the weld can weaken the case? Opinions? Jack, any advice or suggestions?

Thanks,

I use 1x1/4 alum.
3 pieces. 1 piece2 3/4"long, one piece 3 1/2" long, the other 6" long.

First is the 2 3/4" piece..This goes across the back on the top of the casing, above where the long bolt that holds the pipe goes. There is a casting mark on the cases that needs ground down before adding this piece. This piece after welding may need ground down to provide space for the brake cable.

The 3 1/2" long piece..This gets welded on over that hole on the right side of the casing. It is welded at an angle. This angle is like from 11 o'clock to the 5 o'clock position

The 6" piece..This gets welded onto the top of the casing. It runs along the top just behind where the clutch cover bolts are.It is also welded to the first piece.

I've tried top/bottom/side/up/down/all around supports, and non supported, and this is what I've come up with as the best

Good luck
