oil ratio for modded Kasea.......
#1
oil ratio question for Kasea Guru....
We have a Kasea 90 with a HC piston,(12:1) aluminum rod, CDI to 12,000 Bored 40 to become a true 90,then 10 over .Ported head,28mm flatside Carb, Carbone fiber reed cage full clutch mod, ok here is my question.....
The racing Co. that built it says we should run Opti fully synethic 80:1 with straight c-12 or min. 106 octane
I dont mean to second guess them, but holy cow.....80:1???!!!
Anyhow, were also looking for a differernt oil that would work well with the Kasea since this oil is hard to find around here ......Any suggestions????

80:1??? I would say, "Holly Cow" as well. With Oil Injection system removed, everyone starts at 32:1 then "tweaks" their ratio based on their specific brand of oil and several Plug Readings. I've heard of 1 guy running 40:1, and that's only for short drag races. Most are at 28:1 to 34:1 (average at 32:1). At 80:1, it soulds like their are trying to make another customer out of you.

I'm wondering if "80:1" is an oil type, or synthetic oil characteristic. My Amsoil Sythentic bottle says something like 100:1 on the bottle, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's what I should mix it at. I think it's just an oil characteristic. I'm really glad you second guessed it, because it can't be right, especially with all your performance mods. I'm thinking 32:1 with all the mods you've done. The WORST you'll do is foul the plug, and then you could lean it out. If you err the other way, you'll blow apart the engine "toute suite" (hey it's Canada, we're bilingual, it means "right now").
I agree with SPike99, try a few tanks of 32:1 and lean it out from there after checking your plug.

we ran 32:1 with only a pipe. Im not sure if this spcific oil has anything to od with it or not.....Ill ask them again on Tues. I dont want them to think I dont trust here best judgement or anything, just trying to understand the mix I guess.......
Ive gotten mixed reviews, some ay its fine.others say no way.......lol Tina

For what it's worth, I've been running the same piston (Airsal single ring design) for the last year on both of my kids' minis with no problems at 40:1 (Cam2 + Klotz HP50).
I inspected both about a month ago, and the bores, skirts, and rings look perfect. Good compression and power. Plug fouling has never been a problem (I probably just jinxed myself!).
I know of test engines that have successfully ran at 100:1 (the company i work for manufactures two cycle oil, among other things). I work the engineering end, but from a commercial standpoint there's probably some wisdom to the fact that you sell more oil at 32:1.

I think 80:1 will scatter the motor in no time! My son has a Polini x3 works dirt bike. It has a 12:1 piston, and a 14,000 rpm cdi, and has 13 hp stock. The factory oil ratio mixture calls for 110 oct race fuel mixed at 40:1. This bike has never blown , plus the piston looks brand new.But you have to use the best mixing oil you can find. I will only run Maxima super M or Maxima 927 oils in all my 2 strokes. I also run a 40:1 mix in his quad.
