Lt80...Too much oil?

Lt80...Too much oil?
Ok I took the top end off yesterday and noticed a lot of build-up on the piston and in the exhaust port. Is this caused by too much oil or what? I've been mixing 40:1. And yes the injection is removed.

I would guess that your running rich,either change to 32:1 or re-jet the carb.Most people
run 32:1, is it excessive carbon or just what would be considered normal?

I'd say this is normal. The LT in stock form doesn't rev high enough to keep it clean. I get motors in all the time with massive buildups of carbon/oil/etc.
BTW going from 40:1 to 32:1 makes it even richer. I think either 32 or 40:1 should be fine, UNLESS you are using a oil made for 50:1 (amsoil type).
