Default 2nd startup....

On my kids50cc 2001 scramblers after they have gone for a ride and shut them down for a while(30 min.-60 min.) I have to hold the throttle wide open to start them again. Any Ideas???????? Thanks Jim.....

Having to hold the throttle wide open to start is indicative of flooding. I'd check the carb.. give it a good cleaning.

ya, sounds like needle assembly is sticking open and letting fuel by to flood it. another thing to try to check this, is shut off petcock right after ride. then try starting it 30-60 min. later. If it just fires and you don't need to hold open throttle, gas is flowing by. A tiny piece of crud can leave open the needle.

If your 2001 Scambler has an electric choke, then it could be the problem. Perhaps your dealer knows how to adjust it? Or, perhaps there's a conversion kit (or something) to change it to a manual choke. We have a manual choke on our 2003 Pred-90. Like many, the rider has the control when it needs a little choke.

if it is the 'lectric choke, then a good cleaning of the carb might remedy that too. Our choke always works better after a good cleaning.
