Here , I edited this one. Misread your post.
But you're right WhoDat, I'm not very good at taking things seriously.
Life's too short. I may die young but there will be a smile on my face. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Whodat, dude I agree with both of you.. they are important issues. I read your long post.. or should I say rant? Don't get me wrong, I am not in attack mode... however I would preface any and all discussion with the fact that the so called guidelines are being interpreted differently in other states. And what one state has mandated may not apply in others. That IS one of the factors that I find most frustrating.. As a parent who is caring and wants to get the right information, it is hard to decypher the code. You finally get it down in your home state only to find that when you take the family on a trip to another state, you are in violation of that state's mandated rules.
I have also found that there are more than one organizations out there providing training, and again, there may be places where the opinions may differ. Everyone works off the same guidelines, but they are open to interpretation again...
and lastly, I'd like to note that you yourself have agreed with all of us on the subject that the guidelines need tweaking... And I dont' believe you will get much argument from anyone that both Education, and parental INVOLVEMENT to include proper supervision are keys to providing a safe environment to practice the sport.
Passion is what drives us to do what we do... It drives you to volunteer your time to teach new riders... it drives many of us to sit and take the time to respond to others in this forum too. It is this passion, albiet in different forms that makes this country of ours such a great place to live, work, and ride our ATV's in. We are a lot like family.. we squabble with each other, but take something away from us, or attack one of us, and we all come running in their defense...

Well, he might be in the minority because he's trying to draw a fine line right down the middle of a huge grey area that defines right/wrong or good/bad. I can agree with many of his points but disagree at the same time. He's totally right when it come down to the number of child injuries/deaths on the rise and that something has to be done. There's no doubt about that. However, removing a responsible parent's decision making because of another's irresponsiblity is plain wrong. There are responsible parents out there that go out of their way in terms of safety and their rights need to be protected!
