try the new 05 eton 70cc model this machine took the place of the 50cc its a happy medium between the 50&90cc machine's + comes with a cdi box that you can adjust + a optional wireless remote shut off. Eton has been named the #1 youth quad in sales & durability by the powersports business report.

The new eton 50m (mini) is really cool. It is small but has a cdi box so you can turn the speed up as needed. I weigh 250 lbs and was riding one around the lot a the dealer and it was cruising pretty good. My son started on a suzuki lt-50 and we never had any problems with it at all in three years. The eton would be better if you ever plan to race but the suzuki was very dependable and rugged. My son is very hard on that thing and it just takes it.

If your daughter is too small for a 90 then you need to stay away from the eton 70 and alot of the 50 s out there, they are all built on the 90 chassiy and just have smaller tires and less motor. For just starting I recomend the Suzuki lt 50 or lt 80 the 80 isn't much bigger than the 50 and yes you can limit the throttle. Taake her to the bike shops and have her sit on it . All the controls should be ergonomically correct and have her stand up you should have at least 3 fingers of space between her bottom and the seat. My kids are both very small for there ages my daughter Carly is 7 + 1/2 and in the 2nd grade. She is the smallest kid in the school even smaller than the kindergardeners she wieghs a little over 30lbs. My point is she now rides a lt 80 and she fits it.
The dealer will give you the pitch about youths on quads and age restrictions, they have to it was part of a deal with the CPSC (goverment) They really cannot sell you a 90 if you are under 12 and a 50 if your child is under 6 but they can sell her a full blown 450 cc moto x bike go figure. So wink your eye and tell them it is for your nephew or neighbor or whatever, they really do not care because they will still make thier money. The guidelines suck in some ways, an example of this is my riding buddy's daughter was too big for her lt 80 when she was only 10. Though the guidelines are there to try to protect us from buying our 10 year olds banshee s and raptors. Bottom line is this, you are her father and you should be able to use your own judgment .

Default which 50 to buy????????????????????

this past january i bought my son a new 2005 suzuki lt-a50. while i was picking the bike up from the motorcycle dealer (at nighttime) the person in the service department told me that i should remove both restrictors (intake and exhaust) and to instead use the throttle limiter screw to limit the throttle. the next day after purchasing the bike i had my 35 lbs. son attempting to ride the bike. i was very disappointed with the lack of power the bike had. so, i then went inside and grabbed some tools and proceeded to take both of the restrictors out, boy what a difference that made! before i limited the throttle screw, i was able to ride the little bike down the street, myself (i weigh 280 lbs.). after that, i had a new found respect for the new little bike that i just bought my 5 year old son. i just started doing a few more little inexpensive mods to the bike.
personally, i like the bike and think it has a lot of potential (and it's 75 lbs. lighter than a Yamaha raptor 50).

Just think there are micros with better features for less money. I guess it boils down to what you expect out of the quad but I would want some form of gearing.

I have a Mini-Kolt 50 for my tiny 6 year old son. It has a 2 speed CDI, 10 mph and 15 mph. For really small kids, I think this is the best one to buy. It has all the safety features, like remote kill, and lanyard, throttle restrictor, etc. This is the same as the Polaris 50, but about $700 less. If your son or daughter is very small, I would suggest looking at them.

As for the restrictors, they are designed to teach the kids throttle and breake control at slow speed. I had mine on for about 2 hours, until he learned the basics of control. Worked well for us.

I just joined this forum so I'm still figuring out how to use it.

I have a 50 lb. 5 1/2 year old. I'm looking hard to buy an atv for him. He has ridden his cousin's quadmaster 50 (older model 5-years or so), but I'm afraid he would grow out of it soon. I've read where the 90's are too big. What is the best 50 model that would give him a couple of years to grow with it. I would like something that has a throttle adjustment until he grew into it. I was looking at the Raptor 50 because of its size, but have heard there are some restrictor problems down the road. I also have been looking at the Predator 50, but don't really know much about it. Anybody have one they would recommend for this situation.

You may want to check Eton viper 70, the seat is about 1" shorter than their 90 and 2" taller than their 50.
I am impressed with the buid quality of Eton, they are made in Taiwan.
I also heard nothing bad about unison 50 sport, I think desert cat 50 is bigger than any other 50. It's based of their 90 chasis so it may fit your son a little better if he is too big for regular 50.

I know it's confusing, I am still looking ATVs for my 10 and 4.5 year old boys.

Thanks for the information.

It says I have a couple of dealers within a 100 miles for the eton, but I ssociated them with Suzuki, Yamaha, and Polaris. The one I've been to I haven't even seen an eton. I'm a little nervous about venturing away from the name products because I will need to take it in for service. I'm not much on the know how of engines.
