Default New Viper 90 lacking power

Viper 90 less than a month old. Today noticed lack of power taking off and takes a while to hit top end. From the take off, it's slow, then you can hear it rev up like it wants to go, then bogs down ....then gets going...but takes much longer to hit top speed. Very noticable with me on it going up a slight hill...Any ideas of what the problem might be? Would a slightly loose chain be a factor? My son rides it very easy and it has not been abuse at all.

need a little more info are u using a throttle stop or rev limiter what colour is the plug when you take it out and look at it is it tan or black has it gone in lots of mud or dusty conditions maybe air filter but i doubt it . No a loose chain would not do it sounds like cdi box has not had green wire cut yet how long has your son been riding

Well, I checked plug and filters and all looked well. I then took out spark arrester and I took right off like it should. I cleaned arrester and put back and all is well. The Viper is only a month old and not driven in mud, some dirt roads at times. why would spark arrester by plugged up so soon?...or was there some build up behing arrester that when taken off, blew through?

Probly excess oil clogging up the spark arrester. The dealer double oils the quad when they sell them .

Sounds like the throttle stop is screwed in.
If so unscrew it.

Did you get rid of the rev limiter (cut the green wire on back of the cdi box) or if you have an 05 viper you would have a different style rev limiter it would have a dial with numbers ranging I think from 1-7.

but, make sure you get rid of the rev limiters before you move to something else.

Good luck.
