Default '03 Artic Cat 90 or '04 Yamoto 70??

I have been looking for a wheeler for my 8 yr. old son, and have done a little research. Can anyone give me any advice as to whether or not I should consider buying a used Cat or Polaris 90 versus a new Yamoto 70. He will be using it periodically on some pretty steep hills and logging roads, should we even be considering the 4-stroke in the Yamoto? (the used AC is a 2-stroke) I have been told by a large dealer, who sells, Honda, AC, Bombardier, and Yamaha that the 4-stroke is the way to go, is this accurate? Is it any easier to get parts for the AC or Polaris, versus the Yamoto? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

My local arctic cat dealer can get parts very quickly, same for the polaris.I'm not so sure about the yamoto? Also while 4 strokes are usually more torquey on the bottom end this is such a small engine at 70ccs that I'm not sure it can compare with the 90cc two strokes for power anywhere, even on the bottom end.Does it have a CVT(belt drive) trans or is it a semi automatic? If it actually has gears that should help out with the bottom end power. How heavy is your rider?

Arctic cat 90 over the yamoto. The 90 will be great for an 8 yr old. Great to learn on and big enough to grow into.

The Yamoto does have a shaft drive CVT type transmission, so it sounds like it will probably have some power issues. My son weighs about 70 lbs, so I don't think his weight should make too much difference. I would like whatever I purchase to last him for at least 3 yrs or so.

Sounds like one of the 90s is the way to go.You can modify the two strokes much easier as your son grows and gets heavier and wants more power.
