Viper 40 owners
I may be getting one of these pretty reasonable for my 4yr old. I bought him an 03 XR50 and he doesn't want to ride it but says he will ride an ATV so I am working on getting one soon and ran across this deal. Anyways....
Thier site says it has a speed limiter, can a person remove this as he gets experienced?
How fast does this machine go?
How reliable are these machines?
Any mods available for it?
What realistic size/age child can ride this small an ATV?
Thanks!

I just got a 2001 (I think that's the year) Viper Jr. 40cc from a buddy so that my 5 year old can ride with us. We are only using it for the rest of this season until his kid's grow into it next year and we pick up a 50 for my 5 year old. We like it. As a matter of fact my buddy does not take care of his stuff and when I received the Viper it had just been pulled out of a leaky shed in his back yard. It had been sitting back there for over a year (through winter) from when he first bought it (he bought it used). Still had the original gas in it and the thing did not even think of starting. Long story short.....I took the carb apart and cleaned it, drained the gas and put fresh stuff in, put a new spark plug in and oiled/greased everything well. The thing starts up EVERY time now on the FIRST pull and runs like a dream. I did find the little CDI box under the front left fender and turned the little dial up all the way to let it rev out better. Even my 7 and 10 year old fly around on it when they are not riding their Predator 90cc. Sorry to ramble but I think this is a pretty good testiment to how the Viper 40 can be "brought back from the dead".
