Default yamoto 70cc upgrades

I just purchased a 70cc Yamoto for my kids and I'm looking for some hints and tips to improve performance. I'm not trying to increase top in, but really would like to get more quickness. It seems to be very slugish taking off.

Any recommendations no matter how large or small would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know who sells aftermarket parts...but if all else fails, you can always buy a K&N by diameter and hook it directly to the carb, drill out the main (micro drill bits are available at harbor frieght), richen the needle jet and look for a universal slip-on silencer such as Supertrapp. Again measure the diameter of the pipe. You may have to find a welder to make that work. Not sure.

I had to have custom spacers made to make a 88cc big bore kit work but so far it is worth it.

Hi take out the muffler and cut away 2 inch on it and put it back, that will help alot on the power, you will see the restriction when you take it out, also put on a KN filter right on the carb because the orginal rubber tube goes togheter.

I am a small garage dealer in California. I own "Payless Quads". We have added performance parts to the 200cc. We added a DG slip-on and a K&N filter. If you go online to ebay, you can find a DG add-on to fit by looking at what angle will fit (I bought on-line from ebay). We did it without welding. As for the K&N, I took it to the local Ma & Pa shop and measured it to fit. It was from a 80cc dirt bike. Results? Lost power! No kidding. We live in the desert, so we raced them with a new stock 200cc and the stock beat it.
Maybe try re-gearing it. Post back if you do =)

Bill,

The main reason for the K&N is because the stock airbox and filter are junk. They let alot of dirt by. The carb has a 1.5" flange. You can go direct to kandnfilters.com and order direct. The part number for the filter is RU-0160 and the outerwear for the filter is 22-8009pk. It does have a good performance increase.
