ATV for 7 year old

soimcrazy,
I get the impression you are on a very strick budget. My single income family of 5 is on "survival constraints" as well. Thus, I know what it means to count dimes on a daily basis. As a suggestion, search on E-Bay for "ATV 90", "ATV 80" and "ATV 70". I did a search yesterday in E-Bay and noticed a few discounted minis on sale. Some new and some used. If you find a specific brand you may like, tell us its brand name & its specific E-Bay URL. The experienced folks on this forum could tell you what they like or don't like about that specific brand. From their feedback, you can gain more knowledge and determine what brands to focus on, or stay away from. As oldyeller mentioned above, the best way to sort out the various brands is to create a solid "feature, control & safety" checklist.
Also, I sent you a PM a few moments ago. Check your PM so I can send you more info to review/
Hope this helps as well.

Thanks folks.. the little one is doing great now... I have big plans for that boy... and I have his father on board as well.... Now Mrs DB and my daughter may be a little harder to convince.. but I figure I have a few years to wear them down...I can be quite persuasive... and if that doesn't work, I can always resort to whining... Hey it works for the kids.....why not adults too?
Believe it or not, as I was holding him this past week, I showed him pictures of ATV's just to give him something to dream about other than pretty colored blankets and his mommy at feeding times.... Mrs DB really chastised me for that for filling that poor child's head with garbage.... but I figure if he is going to be a manly man on an ATV someday, it is never too soon to start....
can you say ATV? that is all you need to know little fella.... Oh and yes, I did the same when I introduced him to grandpa's Hemi powered RAM truck....
Yes, this little guy is going to be spoiled rotten.... after all, I have a reputation to uphold right?

TREX, sorry to hear your son took a spill. I think that is something that all parents should consider when choosing brands etc. Please note also that there are things you can do to make it harder to roll, but nothing is fool proof. On other threads, you will find info on widening.. which can be done quite inexpensively with extender bolts... and they make a lot of difference.
Someone else indicated they were very thankful for the equipment makers.... I'd suggest you send them a nice memo to let them know their products are being used and saving lives. They like to hear that from time to time, and it motivates them to work even harder on new products.

I'm picking up my 5 yr old an Eton 90 this Saturday. While it is a bit big for him right now, I'll just turn in the throttle screw to limit the speed. My consideration for the 90 is that I'm 6'5 and my wife's 6'0. My boys would grow out of a 50 in a year. My 7 yr old does great on his 2003 Eton 90, my younger boy has rode it with no problem, however he spent the past couple years on an Battery 4 wheeler. Additionally, regardless of size, make your kids stay within your site all the time. Regardless of ATV size, if they flip it over, you'd better be able to help them immediately. Even a 50 will likely weigh more than 3 times many 5-7 yr olds. Expect to pay about $1800-$1900 new.
