Default Quad Help 50cc ??? Please

I am looking for a small quad for my son. He is 5 years old 41" tall and 46lbs. He would be riding mostly around the yard some woods and mud. (very new to this) I have gotten a few prices on a few models Kasea Skyhawk 50(925.00) Kazuma 50 (699.00) Eton 50 (1499.00) Wondering if these are good prices or not . Also if there are any other models I should be looking at and special items on models i should be looking for. Looking to spend around 1000.00 or so. Would like model to last 5 years or so. I have a son that is 2. That i would like to hand this quad down to when older brother grows out of it. Would appreciate any input I can get for this is achristmas present. Thank you very much for your help.

Never buy from anybody named master wrench.

That's my advice.

2boys28 - Where did you get a price of $925.00 for a Kasea Skyhawk 50?

Is this a 2005 model? Is it the full size 50 or the mini 50?

I am looking to purchase a Kasea 50, if that price is right I,m there...

Let me know the dealer and #.

If it's only for yard and some trails I would say the e-ton 50 is the one..Little more then the $1000 but worth it. ( more features...Remote Kill system..

Thanks
Mike

There is one group that would tell you to go with known name brands.. although at 2K, the Yamaha is pricey. There is another that would tell you to get the bigger machine and skip the 50 altogether.. It all depends on your child's abilities, and you need to take a realistic look at where you intend to ride.

50 cc machines are pretty much dogs when it comes to the power department and there is nothing more frustrating to adult and child alike when they can't keep up, or can't make it up a hill etc.. But they make perfecet learning machines. Just don't be too disapointed when junior outgrows it, and you need to upgrade within a year.

The good thing is that they hold resale value pretty good. You just have to manage your expectations with them. Don't expect to light the world on fire with them. They are not racers.. they are learning machines. If you keep that in perspective, you are looking at many hours of enjoyable family fun.

Give the kid a pat from Dragginbutt will you when he/she rides it for the first time... tell them welcome to the sport from all of us.

And most important, make sure they wear their gear, and you get them the training they deserve.

moonRider this is the Mini 50. It is a real small machine. Didn't really care for it. Would like to see a Kazuma. The price is right. Has anybody heard of a Malibu LC50 SA?

Same as the Kazuma. I have 2 problems with those. One, I would not put a 5 year old on a semi-auto. They have enough to deal with. Two, it has no front suspension. Granted none of the mini's are great but a little is better than nothing.

You can buy a micro mini with a cvt. Why limit the ability of the machine when you don't have to?
