piston installation?

CAN A PISTON BE INSTALLED in the bottom or top of the head or will it only go in one way?

piston installation?

The piston should be able to go in the sleeve either way. Just put oil on the skirt of the piston, and the rings, and on the walls of the sleeve to prevent scratches.
