Default 420 sprocket

If I remember correctly, the E-Ton brand uses a 520 chain. The Pred-90 brand used a 428 chain. The factory sprockets on a Pred-90 are 35T Rear, 19T Rront. A larger rear sprocket can be purchased from Billy Holt at WRH Racing. A smaller front sprocket can be purchased from Billy as well. If wondering, the 18T front sprocket from a '01 Scrambler-50 will fit the Pred-90 front sprocket. I've done this on our Pred-90. I've been told the 15T front sprocket from a Pred-50 should fit as well. But, that small of front sprocket "might force" its chain to rub on its swing arm if doing lots of full compression. I'd go with a 18T front sprocket and 37-39 rear sprocket - if you are looking for more bottom end power (with less upper end speed). With 18T and 39T, its top end is around 24 MPH (based on math calculations).

Hope this helps...

If I remember correctly, the E-ton 's sprocket is 420, not 520.I just want to know it I could put one on a Pred (front and rear of course)
I don't know if it is a 19 or else.

If one was going to change sprockets, would it be worth it too change to a 520 chain?

If the original sprockets are worn, then changing the chain is a good idea. If you are into racing and don't want to risk a broken chain during a race, then changing the chain (and matching MASTER link) is a good idea. If you feel the sprockets aren't worn very much and only doing "around the house & trail riding" a few times a year, then use the current chain. As you can tell, it's one of those "judgement" things for each original sprocket.

If I remember correctly, your family is into racing. Hopefully, you have a sponsor who helps your young rider with some of the customized parts. If so, see if they can give you a discount on a new chain. For racing, I'd change the chain when the sprockets are changed (pending wear amounts on each sprocket).

Hope this helps...

No, we don't race. I haven't even bought a quad for my son yet. Still shopping.... The 520 chain looks quite a bit heavier than the 420. Iwas just wondring if the less mantenence of the 520 would be worth the switch.
Thanks for the info

Sorry, WyattEarp. I was thinking about the "tonnerre" family and their racing needs with their Pred-90...

To me, the 520 chain is much better then the smaller 420 / 428 chains. Especially on a 233 lbs Pred-90 that comes factory with a 428 chain. On our mud, dirty water, sand type trails and with our heavy riders, its factory chain does stretch. IMO: Its factory chain stretches much more then it should. When chains stretch, they wear out their sprocket teeth much faster. To eliminate this wearing, upgrade the chain to a much better quality or replace with a 520 sprockets and chain. Regardless, one is replacing the factory 428 / 420 chain more often then a 520 chain (under the same riding conditions). For maintenance, they all need oiling (or waxing) before and after every ride. This is something that each of us can't avoid.

Hope this helps...

Hi Spike,
I don't think like you. Why to put a big chain on a small quad ?.Kawa KX 80 is a 420 chain and the engine is more power than the Predator. IMO, the 420 chain will be strong enough for the engine power and it 'll have less rub-down. Are you agree with me ?

Yes, good point. I was thinking more of the 90cc units that have thin 428 chains that are always in constant dirt / mud and stuff. Sure wish they put a 520 chain on the Pred-90 line. Better yet, make then shaft drive for near zero maintenance. Especially in trail riding conditions. The 420s on the little 50cc engine / light weight minis are ok.
