Default Chain Oil

What kind of chain oil do you guys use?

And how often do you lube it?

My kids ride in mud a lot.

.

Lots of info within: http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcdirt/.../toolbox8.html

For us, we use spray on O-Ring Safe foam type oil. We spray it on before we ride and soon after we wash our mini down. In the future, I'm going to switch to "chain wax" type oil. Based on above, chain wax appears to better for trail riding.

Hope this helps...

MOTUL OFF ROAD FORMULA! Tall red can. Cant go wrong! It's bright green so you can see if you hit the whole chain.

I use Bel Ray most of the time, however i did just buy a can of Motul, Hymus is right about the green color hard to miss. I usually ride my bike for about 5 minutes to warm up the chain before spraying it on. After washing I spray it with wd-40 or liquid wrench to displace any water. Then I wait until I ride again to start over. I usually lube the chain every 3-5 hrs, depending on how wet it is. The wetter it is the sooner I lube it.

Yes, Motul off road is the chit! I'll wash my machine then ride in a very clean area to whip the water off the chain and put a little heat into the chain as well. Before I store it in the garage I'll hit the chain really well. Like stated above, nice green color so you know for sure what you got, or missed.

i use 80-90 gear oil, much cheaper and good for o-ring or non o-ring chains. the other stuff seems too sticky and like a magnet to everything.

Most dealerships carry it. Or check rockymountainatv.com I think they carry Motul.
