Default Mini-Quad Lighting - Bulb ????

.

We have a Pred-90 with dual front lights that look like: - Press Here -

Their current 2 x MR11-20 watt bulb drain is too much on our Pred-90s system. I know there is a way we can make it better.

Here's a few options.

1 - Downgrade their MR11-20W bulbs to MR11-15W or even MR11-10W bulbs. If you have lights on your mini, do you feel that a 10w or 15w would work best?

2 - Replace MR11-xx bulbs with MR11-LED bulbs. More details on this bulb is within:

- Press Here for Product Details -

Local seller might be: - Press Here -

From a visual, the MR11-LEDs different types take Sport-1.0W or Flood-1.6W drain. That's near unbeleiveable compared to normal MR11-xx traditional bulbs.

Long story short..... Has anyone tried the MR11-10, MR11-15 &/or MR11-LED bulbs for Daytime Driving (and the odd time at sunset / near dark) on their mini? If so, greatly appreciate your lessons learned...

thanks.

I have two 04 Pred 90,s I installed headlight,s that I got from Driving light,s.com.
They come 2 in a set, so I put one on each quad. I believe they are 35 watts each.

Get a cheap set of driving lights from somewhere and install like above post. The reflectors/lens design on the stock lights don't work as they weren't made to be headlights. IMHO working headlights should be a requirement on all these mini quads.

Default Mini-Quad Lighting - Bulb ????

I have an '02 Scrambler 50 and I installed a 55 watt driving light on it. Never had a problem, I think the charging system is rated at 70 watts, so I figured this would be ok. This thing nearly puts out as much light as my 400ex with low beams on, it's actually pretty impressive and makes for much safer night riding, although she still doesn't ride much at night, it's just nice to not worry about riding back from those sunset rides that went long and now it's pitch black since there's no moon out. I don't have to worry about her being able to see in front of her. She usually doesn't use it as a daytime running light, but she has had it on for a few hours at a time and the starter didn't sound weak starting the next morning.

I can't see a 10 or 15 watt bulb doing much for lighting at night. Are you only planning on using this as a daytime running light?? I also don't understand how 40 watts would be too much for the system to handle, do you know what the charging system is rated at, have you checked the output to see if you're charging system is working properly??

I would first check your specs for your quad and compare your output to the rated output, you should be able to use those lights without a problem if it's the same stator as the 50. The other option would be to see if a different stator is offered to up the output if that's necessary.

Good Luck...
