Default hard starting 80 cc yamaha moto 4 ?

i have came to the conclusion that the valve needs adjusting and i have no idea how to do this..the quad is hard to get started when it is cold but once you finally get it going and warmed up it runs good.it had a bent valve when i bought it .the screw that holds the butterfly flap on the carb came out and went through the intake and bent it .new valve and cleaned the carb last summer then stored it till now..any tips help appreciated.. runs well just hard to get initially started.. thanks

these are easy to do with the correct tools. PM me and i'll fax you instructions and specs from a repair manual i have for this. it'll take too long to post everything here. do a word search for "valve adjust", i know i've posted long, detailed posts before on this topic.

Hello mate. Its very easy to do, I had to do it to my kids quad. Just remove the Carb, then take off the large round cover situated at the front top of the engine. The spanner required is a 15/16th or 24mm. You will see the rocker and valve adjuster straight away. Use a 8mm socket to loosen off the pinch nut. Then loosen off the valve adjuster until you have a small amount of play. Put the bike into gear and rock backwards and forwards a couple of times to move the rocker a bit. Once you have a small amount of play then tighten the pinch nut (ensuring that you don`t tighten the valve adjuster at the same time). Then just re-assemble. Any other problems then please do not hesitate to email me. All the best and happy biking. Dean
