LT80 Hard to Start
My sons LT has been getting really hard to start lately. I can't tell if the choke is working or if it's just low on compression. It's a 2002 model so I wouldn't think it would be that low already but who knows. When I choke it it just turns over and over for awhile then tries to start then just doesn't. If I keep at it for a few minutes it will eventually kick over and run fine. The power seems to be ok but is just hard to start. Any ideas?
It might be a petcock problem as well.

Check the main things first. Does it have fuel? Does it have spark? If the answer to those is yes, you can about bet money it does not have enough compression. BUT, you should check before asuming!! You'll need at LEAST 90 lbs to get it to start. It should have more than that, but I've found thats about it for getting it to run. GOOD LUCK!!!

LT80 Hard to Start
My sons 1996 Lt80 was hard to start and slowly getting worse. I had to grind away on the starter on full choke just to get it to hit and then I had to run the choke a long time just to keep it running. It ran fine once started but was extremely hard to get going.
I gave the carb a good cleaning and it starts like new. The jets were gunked up and there was trash in the carb's bowl.
Good luck...

Air filter clean. I just found out from bubba297 that if the hose coming off the side of the carb is clogged then it could cause this. It just so happens that it somehow came off and when I went to look for it it was hidden somewhere. Well I found it and cleaned it real good and seems to start better now. It just seems that the starter keeps wanting to turn and won't disengage when the motor is wanting to turn over. I'm gonna do a compression check today and see what happens there. Thanks fellas.
