Default Redcat FX-250

Thanks Kazooooma, nice to hear from someone that has seen and rode one. It sounds like we are, but I just want to make sure we are talking about the same bikes and not the utility one, and kinda how I came to be looking at the 250. Im actually looking for a good dune/sand quad for my daughter, and I originally was interested in the Yomoto 110 as it would be a good size for her. Then I saw the Redcat/Kazuma 150 was very similiar in size and cheaper w/better suspension and reverse (Yomoto didnt at the time), then the MKII came along looking even better. Then I realized for another $500 to $600 I could get her the FX-250 water-cooled which is advertised with same exact dimensions and weight as 150MKII, and I could control the speed with the speed limiter.

So I guess my questions are these; Kazoooma, did it appear the 150MKII and the FX-250 were the same size excepting for the 250 being wider? Which would actually be a plus as you say spacers wouldnt be needed. Im looking for adequate power (obviously) w/ auto and reverse AND making it as stable and safe as possible. Is there anything about the quad that makes it appear like "too much" quad or less safe for a child compared with the 150? As stated earlier if its wider, I think its probably MORE safe if the speed can be controlled. And with the rubber mounts (does the 150MKII not have rubber mounts either?) and water-cooled engine seems a better value.

Raceway; maybe you could answer some of these questions as well, and possibly an indication of a price, if you will offer them, when they are available unless we need to wait to see it on the website. And do the 150MKII and the FX-250 both weigh the exact same (265 pounds?)And just to confirm, Ive been looking at FX-250, not the KMZ-250. Thanks alot to everybody for their input. First hand experiences are great.

Is there a sport quad version of these 250's? or just utility models?

Since many dealers don't use the exact Kazuma model designations, it's pretty confusing for sure. I guess I can't say for sure what model I rode, but I know the MKII 150 sport model well, and this was like an MKII but wider and looked a bit taller. Most of the info on the web seems to indicate that it's a Falcon 250, but some list a Falcon 250 II like this page:

http://www.southeasternwholesale.com/atvlist.htm

so maybe that's what it was. All of the widths I've see on line say 33", but my Dingo is listed as 36.7", so 33" can't be right. I think the 33" number is before the 2005 A arms that are 2" longer each side. Based on what I saw, I would guess that the new 250 Falcon is 40" wide or slightly more.

I think this is the distributor my dealer uses and they don't show the Falcon 250 at all.

Yes there's a 250 utility called the Cougar.

As far as rubber mounts, my Dingo doesn't have them and I think the MKII has the same setup as the Dingo.

Some of the common names for the sport 250s are: Redcat - FX250 and TCX250...the TCX is larger than the FX250, and is meant for larger adults. Kazuma - Falcon 250 and Adult Falcon 250.

The 150MKII and FX250 are each supposed to be 37 inches wide, and I can tell you for sure that the MKII is this wide. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm out of the FX250, or I would go and measure it for you to be sure. Some say that it's wider than the MKII, but I don't remember it being wider.

The 150MKII does not have dampened motor mounts; it has solid mounts, but the foot peg assembly is dampened to cut down on the vibrations transfered to the rider.

You won't find very much information on the 250s right now, because they are so new and are generally out of stock because of the low numbers being imported at this time, coupled with the great demand for them.

Probably that or the Adult Falcon 250, because it's VERY hard to get your hands on an actual Redcat TCX250...but you could have been riding the FX-250, also, because I've had numerous people call to tell me that their FX250 seems wider than the MKII...it's not supposed to be, but you never know, what the Chinese will do, sometimes.

I saw them nose to nose and listened as my dealer showed me that it was WAY wider than an MKII. Guess we'll get more info as they become more available. I'll tell you one thing, it took all the will power I could scrape up not to whip out the checkbook.

That sounds a lot better than 33. Man, I was getting nervous about people buying something the size of a kids quad with a 150cc engine (much less 250). Wish they would change their website.

Why don't you bring a few to play in the dunes of West Texas ogfalcon. I'd like to get a look at one of these.

I'll even buy the beer.

The Kazuma site shows a 250 utility with a 5 speed, but I think all the sport models are CVT. My dealer said the 250 CVT was the same design as the 150 but with beefier components.
