Default Headlight improvement on Dingo 150

The headlight is pretty bright, 55watts I think, but the front rack casts a shadow in front of the bike, so I'm thinking about removing it and mounting 2 lights in the front brush guard. My only concern is that most automotive fog lights are also 55watts, and if I mount 2, that's 110 watts. I don't want to overload the alternator or magnetor or whatever it has. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I may be able to find 2, 25 watt lights, but they are not as common. Could mount a single light, but the brush guard seems well suited for 2 lights.

.

One option is to visit your local K-Mart / WalMart / Autozone store and look at clear lens automotive fog lights that are MR16-20 watts. They are usually sold in pairs and the casing on them is smaller then H3-35 or H3-55W socket lights. If wondering, MR11-20 watt bulb clear lens fog lights will work just as good. If too much drain on your battery/ electrical re-charge system, you can downgrade these MR11 & MR16 bulbs to 15W (special order across the net) and even down to 12V 10W bulbs. But I find dual 10W bulbs are only good for daytime driving lights. If the lights don't state the wattage on the outside of the box, ask a Sales Rep to open one up. Luckily, my local Sales Rep opened the package & entire light assembly to ensure it was a MR11 bulb - before I purchased it.

To view what MR11 bulbs look like (MR16 look the same except larger), surf pictures within:

Thanks for the info. I did look at Walmart this evening and every light they had seemed to be 55 watts, even the tiny ones. I'll look around some more.

I've discoverd that some "brand stores" don't always carry the same items. They adjust their display & inventory levels by regional demands.

A few weeks ago, my wife did some early scouting to determine if a summer camp site looked pretty good. I seen the same "brand store" that's located down the road from our home, so I decided to do some power shopping. To my surprise, this "same brand" store had different items. Only 50% was the same but they had much more camping, boating, ATVing and other recreational items. My local store mostly has construction and home appliance items. In learning from this, your Walmart store may not carry the same items as other Walmart stores either. Thus, you may have to shop around a little more...

Hope this helps too....
