Reverse option, useful or waste of money?

If you are trail riding it is great for a beginner. When they didnt cut it hard enough they can put it in reverse instead of getting off the bike and pushing it. Better for dad to, he doesnt have to get off of his bike either.LOL

I just bought mine her second quad (havent received it yet), reverse was important if not a priority. We ride dunes a lot, and it gets exhausting getting off mine to get her unstuck when she cant make a hill. Im hoping between the bigger faster bike getting her up those hills, and that with reverse she will get herself unstuck. Depends on where you ride but I would recommend it.

I think not having reverse is the stupidest thing. Especially for the little guys because like laserman said its makes life alot easier for all partys involved. I don't see the problem of reverse unless it went to fast.

Think it depends on the terrain. I think reverse at the dunes is a waste. It would hardly get used and makes finding a good pipe for a mini difficult, if not impossible.

We only Trail Ride with our '03 Pred-90. These trails are very narrow, up / down hills, lots of trees and of course, huge deep mud holes hidden behind every corner. When we go riding in these condition, I'm always getting off my Utility ATV to push or pull my son out. Or, helping him do 3 point turns on our narrow trails. Knowing what I know today and knowing how much my back hurts at the end of many trail rides, I would definately get Reverse. Back 2.5 years ago, they did NOT have reverse on minis. Today, "R" would be one of my highest Features on my large list of many other mandatory features. To me, Reverse feature is more for "me & my sore back" then a young rider. Although, I'm sure a young rider do love shifting into F, N and R when the time is right.
Note: Many racers don't like reverse. More gears that could break and it adds weight to the mini. But for general trail riding and "around the house" conditions, I'd get one with "R". Sure wish our Trail Riding '03 Pred-90 had "R".
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info guys.
OK I'll get ATVs with reverse then.
By the way, these ATVs are not for racing mostly light trailing around my property of about 1 acre and empty 2 lots next door (a acre of each). Maybe, I'll get one for myself later

My son & I went for a little Trail Run today. Since it's been raining for the last 2 weeks, we had to stay on "our high ground". Even on high ground, we had to perform 6 3-point turns in the middle of our trails - because the mud puddle around the corner was too deep for his Pred-90. Our first 3 point turn was cute. By the 6th 3-pint turn, I was thinking of your "is Reverse critical?" question. Even a few hours later, my sore back was yelling "yes - get Reverse next time". If driving "around the house or on trails, definately get a mini with R". It's well worth it....
