Default UNISON DESERT CAT 90 UPDATE!!!

Me and my boy went out riding both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday:

The ATV ran fine up until he ran out of gas on the trail. Did not notice till I had fiddled with it for about 20 mins no big deal. My son was whining about the stiff thumb throttle as well so we did not ride for more than 20 mins at a time. Then we lost the cap that goes on the oil tank so our day was done at about noon. Came home that afternoon and removed the oil injection unit and my son said it was a lot better. Decided to go riding again on Sunday!

Sunday:

Got up there about 9:30 the ATV started up and ran great all day. Everything on the ATV performed flawlessly. We were riding in mud, sand, and rocky terrain there was nowhere the ATV would not go.
There is a 17 mile loop that you could ride so we decided to go on that, about half way through he started to get tired on the trails so we were just going to take the service roads back to the park, MISTAKE. The trails are marked great but the service roads are are not very good at all. We ended up getting lost for about 2 hours. While we were lost we were going down a road and my boy was gawking at the scenery and went into a ditch and flipped it. He came out with a few bruises and a little timid and a lot less confidence. After he calmed down I hopped on it and it started right up and we still had to find our way out. I decided that the only way we were going to get back in a timely manner was to take the trail back. All the trail are marked easy or hard of course the only trails we could find were the hard ones and I was not about to let him ride those. So what I did was put him on my ATV and ride up about 200 300 up and walk back and get his ATV and ride up. I ended up doing this about 7 or 8 times. I do know now that his ATV will go anywhere. I took it up some 50, 60 foot steep inclines and it did great with me on it, they were rocky and wet and muddy. There was not one thing I have a complaint about on his ATV after our ride.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks
Roman

.

thanks defcon5.

I always like reading the reports on your Unison DC-90. If only this brand / model was around 3 years ago and available in my area. GGGRRRR. After reading your many postive / very pleased type reports, the Unison DC-90 would definately be on my "must check it out" shopping list. But, I'm sure your positive progress reports will help todays and future buyers. Many Thanks for taking the time to help folks who are entering into the mini-quad sport or upgrading to a 90cc mini....

BTW: Also glad to hear your young rider survived with "only a few bruises".

I was reading about this machine on RaceWay ATV and noticed under Reverse Gear it says Optional Feature. Does it have reverse or how do you add it to this machine?

When I talked to the guys over at Unison they said that even though I had got one with no reverse I could still add one later myself. Which I thought was really cool.

Thanks

Default UNISON DESERT CAT 90 UPDATE!!!

I'll let you guys know how it goes. I ordered unison 90 w/ reverse from raceway and they are backordered and won't be in for 2 months.
So I go with the 2nd option of getting the non-reverse unit with reverse gear kit, should be in early next week.
According to Nick at Unison it should be very simple, like getting the chain off, front sprocket and bolt the reverse gear kit on. But I am not sure about the cable from the handle bar???

The reverse gear kit goes for about $175.00 + the shipping. I got it for $150 for HPIA4v2 because he bought the bike at the same time as the reverse package. And HPIA4v2 your bike is on its way!!!!

Defcon,

What was it like changing the gear oil for your 90? I have a 50 that has a hour or two on it but havent changed it yet.
