Raptorlegs.
That's what I'm talking about. I can't ride it up on my ramps of the Silverado, let alone the utility trailer. What's the best and cheapest way to get that low end start power?

I think at a minimum, you'd need a pipe, roller weights and cdi.

What kind of pipe is a reasonable one? How about those roller weights? Where do you get those and which ones are best (wt and all)? And the CDI? You mean that clip I removed the day the 90 landed on my property to allow it reach it's max speed? Or is it something else?

Unless you plan on trying it yourself, I'd give your dealer a call and see what they can do. I don't mind tinkering with my quad but if it makes you uncomfortable, you may be better off paying someone else to do the work.

The best pipes come from builders like WRH or Hetrick Racing.

With either, you'd have to remove the oil injection. With WRH, the battery will need to be moved over. With Hetrick (Trinity or Miniatvs), you'll have to remove the battery or relocate it somewhere else. The rollers depend on what else you have. The cdi is still limited, even without the jumper. You can replace it with an Eton cdi.

Hate to tell ya but take a look at the 2005 90's.. My 5 year hold has been riding his 2002 sportsman 90 for the last 2 yrs.. this one id going to my youngest ( he turned 3 in Dec) and I just order a 05 sportman 90 for the main reason that this one has reverse ..

Several other upgrades too, but the biggest problem was the reverse.. I got it from the local dealer for $2050.00 or I could have had the 2004 for 1900.00.. reverse was worth the 150.00 !

I would've bought the '05, but they were 2600 and no one was willing to budge. I felt lucky to get the last '04 for 2000. Folks in MN must be a bit more generous. Ya, I had buyers remorse the moment I handed over the check to the dealer, but there was nothing out there that perfectly meet our needs. It was the closest with the best price that was a "name brand". It'll do until the market becomes flooded with more 4strokes and the options become more diverse. However, it can't happen soon enough.

Be careful what you wish for. I've never been on a 70-125cc 4-stroke that wasn't a dog.

Ya know, I've never ridden one myself. Even the geared 4 strokes (ie Yamaha Raptor) are guttless on the low end? Who's riding that 4 stroke you or your son? I'm three times my son's weight so there's no question regarding its power and how it feels. Anyway...they certianly are more sluggish, yet my 2 stroke struggles with hills on the low end while maintianing slow speeds. I don't think there is a perfect quad off the showroom floor that doesn't needs something. We do our best with what we've got.

My son rides a powerwheels. My daughter rides the 100 2-stroke. I ride the 400ex.

2 strokes produce more power per cc than a 4. But there are trade offs. More pollution, vibration and a tiny powerband. But that small hard hitting powerband is a perfect fit for a cvt imo.

Have you ever ridden an 80cc 2-stroke dirt bike? It will give you an idea of where these mini quads should be. There is no comparison. These quads are really restricted. I guess due to the cpsc. But you can certainly wake them up.

2600 ?? msrp on the 2005 was 2299 look at

http://www.bristowsinc.com

As for all that speed and power.. he is going to be 6 in July.. Its plenty fast enough .. We do take the current 90one camping and it works well to go here and there.. with the short wheel base it can get a bit tippy with me on it.. But I'm 185 lbs and I ride with my 3 yr old so thats over 220 lbs and it moves out very well..

I have a 04 Polaris 700.. Now the Kids love riding with Dad on that.. That thing really move out and goes thru almost anything
