First ATV for 10 year old son
#1
I'm looking for help on which ATV to buy my 10 year old son. We have 50 acres of fields, and wooded trails not many hills just a few. I see there are many different kinds. This is his first AtV, but he has a mini bike, go cart, and scooter. I have looked at some of the name brands like Yamaha, Polaris, ect., and have heard about Kasea, and Eton. Money is not really an object except if he chooses not to like it.(probably not going to happen anyway) I think the right size for him would be a 90, he is 85lbs, and is above avg hieght. Thank you for your help.

I just bought a GPX 90 which is the same as the Unison 90 and manufactured by the same company that makes the Polaris Predator 90. What is different about the GPX is that it has a rear foot brake which in my opinion is much easier for kids to use and a better transition for when they are older and progress to bigger machines. I am very happy with the machine.

My 8 yo has the Unison 90........reliable to date (feb 05), reverse. lights, wide stance & very stable, decent suspension......., the new ones also have chain tensioner ........compared the polaris and e-ton...don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3....but will say go for reverse......it huge for the boy and my back! And price wise was 500 less than e-ton and 1000 less than predator.......and he really dig the looks and the lights to him was the clincher (even though I won't let him ride at night, they are nice safety feature IMO)
raceways price is good, i just happen to have a local dealer

If money is no object, go for one of the big 4. It also depends on his size, and how legal you need to be. The 90 will probably be too small. The 200s will probably be just about right, depending on his size.

I was thinging about a bigger one, but this is his first. His size is about 85-90lbs, and about 50" tall. Plus I have another 6 year old son so if my oldest out grew it fast it could always be a hand me down to little bro.

I forgot to ask you how you liked your yamoto 150, and if I was considering the Eton Viper 150 against the yamoto which is the better deal. The E-ton is about 1000.00 more but if it last it can always go to little Bro.

The Yamoto is a good size for my 9 year old, 52" tall. It was our first quad, and well worth the price to get us started. Mom rides it too. It is a poor quality piece of crap, but I didn't want to spend the money to find out he didn't like the quading experience. I'll never buy another one, and I'll probably throw this one out in 3 years. After I bought the Honda, I'll never go off the Big 4 list. As far as Eton, they seem to be much better built, but now almost the price of a Honda.
