Predator 90 Modifications. Taking Ideas

The '03 Pred-90 has a vented CVT tranny and vented stator (electrical) system and its air box hangs way too low. Not matter what you do to it, water above the running boards will get into the tranny, into the stator assembly system and high risk of water entering its carb. Over time, your kick starter will gum up with crud, its belts & clutches will take a beating and it will blow its stator.
How do I know?? Because we have an '03 Pred-90 / with 1 stator already blown away already. Knowing what I know today and knowing that "we love mud riding too", I wished I would have bought a 4 stroke for my son. Something that has a sealed electronic system, something that his a high mounted air filter, something that has "open air" cooling system and something that has sealed tranny gears. With the current design of the '03 Pred-90, one cannot seal its stator area. Besides that, the cable brake drums don't work very well in water, and its front hubs often get filled with mud. They should have designed the Pred-90 with hydro disc brakes. Front & back.
My best advice....
1 - Sell your Pred-90 and replace with a 4 stroke - something made for mud / crud.
2 - Keep the water below its running boards. And when possible, reduce splashing above its running boards.
Hope this helps....

Depending on the age and size of your child I'd think about moving them up to a larger quad. Like Spike said the mini's aren't made for water and mud. I picked up a Blaster for my 10yr. old to trail ride on and he's able to handle it pretty good. Of course he gets mad about the shifting and clutching but, thats just the way it is. There's also some auto's in that size range that are way better than a mini. Good luck.
