Yamoto, Redcat, Kazuma questions
#1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bought some Polaris 90's back in 2001. Tiwan machines, some issues, but managable. Time to upgrade. Polaris Pheonix, Tiwan machine, lots of reported problems. Expensive, more than I paid for a new Trailblazer in 2001.
Yamoto, Redcat, Kazuma, Tiwan machines, less than half the cost of Polaris tiwan machines. Lots of mod & repair money left in the budget.
Question:
1. Are these machine similar in quality to the Polaris units?
2. How is parts and service for them?
3. Who's the best distributor for them?
4. Whould anyone recommend them?

i own four kazuma for appox 9 months to a year now,i have two 150cc dingos for my wife and myself, two 50cc for our grand kids, their's no such thing as quality in kazuma's,all have been broken,my carbuartor needed to be replaced twice now on my bike,my wifes atv, quit running quit running one month of owership, took it to a repair shop here in mohave valley az, sat there for 4 months, told us they couldn't get parts,so i went and got it back home, ordered new stator for it,able to get it in two days but that wasn't the problem,i ended up exchanging all the parts from one atv to the other, end up with a finding a bad wiring harness,the50cc both quit runing the same day the 150 quit running,i called everyone in the world to find out why, i adjusted the valves ,that wasn't it ,exchanged the carbs, not it ended putting new motors in,not it,what it was is the switch on the left side of the handle bars gets moisture in it and shorts everything out,the dealers for kazuma will not work or sell parts for them if brought from another dealer or off e-bay, i would not buy these atv again no matter how cheap they are,i have a lot of money in spares now, i buy the spares everytime i see something i think i may need on e-bay,one more thing,my front end is completely worn out on my atv, their's a reason why they only offer a 30 day warrenty, hope this will help.

Thanks for the input. I havent heard much good about the Kazumas.
in fact I've gotten the impression that the Yamoto is the best of the three with Redcat following and Kazuma at the bottom of the list.
But Im not sure how the Yamoto or the Redcat stack up against the big 4 (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki/Suzuki, and Polaris) OK thats 5.

I'm not sure about the 150's, but we recently purchased a Yamoto 50 for my 6 yr old. I was sceptical of quality/durability even though I read everything I could about them before I bought......now I'm pleasantly surprised. He beats the snot out of that thing daily(his older brothers play on it too, although they are WAY too big for it) and it just keeps going. He even jumps it, I really didn't think it would hold up to that sort of thing, but it did. He actually got some pretty good air today, scared the crap out of me since that was not on my itinerary for the day, but he seemed to enjoy it.
We had to perform a few minor tweaks to get it just right, ground down the frame a bit in a couple spots to get a larger steering radius, tightened a few things, loosed up the chain a bit(it was so tight when we got it it was binding up), adjusted the throttle and idle, but nothing big.
I keep meaning to add some pics, maybe this will remind me.

if you're looking for the most fun and reliable, buy a mini sand rail,150cc costs 1200 up,250cc costs anywhere from 2200up, i have a peirspeed 250 252 , its a real blast to drive, also is much safer than a quad, seats 2, top speed is somewhere around 50, if you want to know more, go to www.buggynews.com,also e-bay hi perfornmance go karts, most fun on four wheels.

My wifes '04 Yamoto 150 is a decent quad for what she uses it for. Mellow trails and roads. The stock suspension was real bad, and lots of bolts needed loctite and a few even needed replacing. But it runs good, not real fast. 32 mph. But willl climb any hill the wife is interested in at about 20 mph. It has been pretty reliable but has needed some hands on time. More than a jap quad, but if you dont mind turning a few wrenches it is a good deal. As long as you dont think you are getting a jap quad for 1/2 price youll be ok. If who ever is going to ride this is hard on equipment I would buy japanese. I would never buy a Yamoto for myself or one of my boys. We kind of abuse toys. The wife just wants to putt around a little.

The bad wiring harness was a known issue with the older 150cc the new VX series supposedly they fixed that issue(I hope). I own a 50 110 and a 250 and as soon as the 300 is available I will have that also. OUt of the box I have not had any issues with any of the atv's. for a 50 it is a very fast machine for a little 6 year old. The 110 is a sturdy machine one which I have road several times and I am 6 feet 280.
absolutely love my 250 it handles well and I can stay with my friends on there 250's and 400's no problem. I did add a roost boost to it which add more HP in the midrange I am looking to make or buy a custome pipe for it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but Redcat isn't a manufacturer is it? Many dealers put their brand on Chinese ATVs, but Redcat sells Kazuma and others.
My Kazuma Dingo 150 has been damn near perfect in the 6 months or so I've had it. It has a rattle in the rear that I don't really hear any more, and that's about it. I've seen lots of other good posts about Kazumas.

I think Kazuma and Redcat are same thing. I had redcat 150, you get what you pay for. If you dont want to jump it or race it, probably good bike for the money. Good power. I can tell you DO NOT get a Redcat 150 MKII for sand/dune riding-something not right with front end in the sand-shimmeys.
