Default Unison ATV, latest?

Preparing to buy a Unison 90 for my daughter, Im told I can get one w/reverse and foot brake. Ive read all posts on the Unison and appear to be good reviews, just a little dated and I was wondering if everybody with one continues to be pleased, or has anything to add. Particularly interested how well performing in the sand. Replacing a MKII 150 which otherwise seems to be a decent bike but performs POORLY in the sand. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Don't expect ANY mini to perform well in sand without some mods.

right, not expecting a firebreather. Hopes are its like the LT80 if not a little better. She rode one in dunes and was adequate. To clarify the 150 had plenty of power, where its poor is front end handling/wobble/shimmy occuring in sand only vs mud, dirt, etc. Hoping the Unison has none of those issues.

My son (110 lbs. ready to ride) is racing MX with one. Overall I have been happy with it for the price. Suspension is better then the Yamaha, wider and bigger overall then the Suzuki lt80, same for most part as the Polaris Predator. In fact I get most of our parts from the local Polaris dealer. I would loc-tite everything when you get it, when it comes loose, or you remove to work on. Have had the steering shaft bottom bolt, ball joint nuts, axle nuts (big ones), rear axle carrier and rear brake caliper retaining bolts, and rear sprocket bolts (until I got harder ones) all come loose. Most of this could be attributed to racing and beating the h*** out of it. I have had the same issues with my older sons Suzuki RM125. Loc-tite is my best friend. For trail riding or whatever, I think they are a great quad for the price. For me it was $1000.00 dollars cheaper then the Predator 90, thats upgrade money to me. Parts are easy to get from Unison or dealers. After market parts for the Predator fit it. Considering the way little ones grow I wasn't looking for a long term investment. Resale might be better on the big 3-4 brands but for me I have already been offered a good price for ours at the end of the season.

We have no problems ours at all. Still very pleased. Have not had a chance to take it to the sand. Hope this helps you to decide.

Yes, thanks for the input. So, how much bigger than the LT80? Are they similar in size to the Pred 90? Theyre not similiar in size the MKII 150's are they, if anybody knows?

I would say the same as the Predator. Most of the parts will interchange. Small differences in some parts, looking at the '05 Pred Polaris has changed things like the intake on fan and carb snorkel. Was thinking about getting the Polaris ones and putting on ours for trail riding. Carbs are different but air boxes seem the same. Price is different!

Maybe checking/adjusting the toe in/out of the front end would help in this. Or maybe a suspension adjustment? Can't hurt to try. I know with snowmachines these adjustments will make a big difference in the way they handle on hard pack versus powder.

I actually sold it before ordering the Unison, which I did yesterday, should be getting it next week. It was a little too big for her anyway, and the Unison should be a better fit. There have been several posts from others re; the 150's front end shimmy, and as you have some recommended changing the toe, new tires, etc. I just decided I didnt want to mess with it. If we lived right on the sand that would be one thing, but we have to travel considerably to hit the dunes and then I want to ride and not work on the bike, which may not even be fixable. I think the 150 just has a design flaw with the front end. So, going to give the Unison a try. With a name like "Desert Cat" you would think it would be well suited for sand riding, we'll see.

So, any recommended mods? I plan on seeing how she does stock next trip we take, but any ideas to keep in the back of my mind would be appreciated. Also appreciate everybodies input. Thanks.
