Questions reguarding the Honda 2006 honda 90
#1
Now that Honda finally made some decent looking plastic for it and added the electric start I am looking into buying one for my kids. I like the slightly larger size and the 4 speed auto clutch along with four stroke. Do they make after market shocks for it and if they do do they help a bunch add any wheel travel etc. Still don't understand why all the companies are so cheap on the suspensions for the kid quads. We ride really rocky trails and some suspension travel would make a world of difference for the kids when they are riding with us. Anyone out there fixed up their honda 90 to make it a better trail quad let me know. I also have a LT80 but it is really too small for my daughter and like all minis with a auto has no engine braking which keeps me from letting my 8 year old ride it on the steeper and slightly tougher trails. But that is another problem for a different post.

First of all welcome to the forum. Yes they do make aftermarket shocks for the Honda. Elka and Works Connection make them for most all mini's. But they aren't cheap. Elka's cost around a grand and the works cost us $600 for our mini. But there is a difference between night and day.But I would try the stock ones myself. They are pretty good. Alot of the kids use the stock shocks in the XC races we go to. The stock shocks on the trx 90 are alot better then most of the mini shocks. They do have some travel in them. Hope this helps.

I've never considered the suspension on ours to be a weak point. While no doubt, aftermarket shocks would improve handling, our Honda 90 has been able to handle most full size trails in all kinds of trail conditions.
I consider the weak points to be the brakes and the pull start. Now that the '06 has an electric starter, the biggest downside is the non-sealed drum brakes.
