Default New battery?

Ok, this is whats happening. My brother's Redcat 110 battery wont charge and there is acid coming from the top. Obviously the battery is some generic POS so I was wondering if anyone knew of a name brand battery that we could pick up from like TSC, Rural King or Wal-mart? If you have a part number or something that would be great.

Not too sure of a good brand or part number or a replacement battery.... Bt if you measure the current physical size of your current battery, you might be able to match its physical size at the places you mentioned. If your starter isn't a "juice hog", I'm sure any 12V motorcycle battery with the same size will work. Ensure you match the voltage of your current battery before buying. Some batteries are 6 volt.

Just wondering if the stock battery really is a POS or if your charging system is over charging it - thus over boiled &/or made your battery leak??? Or perhaps there isn't enough padding around your battery and it "banged around" and made it leak? If your ATV is under warranty, you may to get your dealer to "check it out". Might want to find the true cause of your battery problems before installing a replacement. Woudn't want the same thing to happen to its replacement.

Hope this helps.

Default New battery?

Well Spike the battery has never been charged by my charger I only noticed the acid when I hooked it up to my charger and the charger faulted so I started checking the battery's physical appearance for damage. The battery is 12 volts and 7 AH. I found a few at TSC and rural king that were 12 volts but were either lower or higher than 7 AH. Idunno if I can use one that is rated for more AH...anyone? My brother never rides without me, litterally and we always ride the same trails so I would be inclined to think that my battery would suffer the same abuse and my battery is workin great. But on those lines, I am going to try to pad the battery box a little with some foam or sponge or something so it doesnt jar.

For more info on AH (Amp Hours), surf info within: http://www.eham.net/forums/Elmers/5794

With this in mind, you "might" be able to go with a less then 7 AH but you might not be able to run your electric starter as long. You "might" be able to go with larger then 7 AH but your electrical system might not be able to keep it fully charged. Good safe range to stay within might be 6.5 - 7.5. I wouldn't go outside this range.

As a suggestion, check with a few motocross / ATV dealers in your area as well. They may have a 12V 7 AH battery with the exact same size as your current battery. If you current battery has any codes, provide them the codes. They might be able to match it via Special Order. For example, my Honda dealer was able to get me a better battery replacement prices compared to my Polaris dealer. Yes, a Honda dealer beats the parts price of a Polaris part.

For our battery box, I installed better softening foam in its bottom and around its sides. Its much better then factory. Installing better spong type material might work for you too.

Hope this helps as well...
