Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this Yamaha? I've been seeing some good deals on '05 close-outs...

my nephew has a Raptor 80, it's brother, and it's an awesome quad. The gearing and low end torque is it's best quality. Not to mention its over-all quality build. I sure would consider getting one if I didn't already have the Sportsman 90, which I'm not too happy with.

whats wrong with your sportsman 90. I have one and its been nothing but good to me. Except for the oil light flashing. Which is because the sensor is placed to high, And the horn not working. Which was just a screw that needed to be tighten. Over all it's been great. Is there something that I should be looking out for. Mine is an 05 LE. But the LE dont mean anything. Just a way for my dealer to get an extra $50 bucks. Well other than the rack exstenders that I dont really need.

Ever since I bought it, it's vibrated badly. The dealer won't do anything about it, saying it's a normal function of a 2stroke. I can't stand to even load it, it vibrates so much. It tickles my feet. It struggles with low end torque in the slow and go technical riding in mountain trails. Does great in the wide open sand dunes (only ride dunes 2x's a yr) and poorly in the mountains. So I'm on the hunt for a 4 stroke with gears that will give me more low end slow-n-go torque. That's all.

I know what you mean about the vibration.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the Griz 80? I'm thinking I may go try to deal on one this afternoon, maybe I could steal an '05 for $2k plus T&L. From all reports the Griz is simply a Raptor with 16lbs of added weight in it's different plastic and bumpers. I'd think that here in So Cal the Raptor would be far and away most kids' preference, hence my thoughts on dealing. Plus my son's a bit quirky and would no doubt prefer the different appearance of the Griz, and he loves green...

Go with the pred 90. There giving a year warranty on them now and you get a free Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word  mini with it. Plus day time running lights. It just keeps getting better.

Decided against the Griz, I didn't realize that the F&R lights were fake. We nearly pulled the trigger on an '05 TRX 90, but I think we'll wait until closer to X-Mas. Hopefully by then the '05s will be gone and dealers will be making better deals on the improved '06s. We were all set to buy an '02 LT50 but my friend backed out of the deal at the last moment. He was set to buy his daughter a bigger quad but then barrowed an LT80, his planned upgrade, and his daughter was overwhelmed by the vastly quicker quad. Now that we've decided to go new, I'd prefer to buy something my son can grow into, and I think he'd outgrow a slow LT50 before this desert season was over. I also haven't fully rulled out a new Yamoto 70, I just wish I could be certain they were CA Green sticker certified, and I'm also concerned about Yamaha's lawsuit. I really would hate to support a company that rips off reputable manufacturers...yet I'd love to save $1k

If you do a lot of dune riding, go with the 2 stroke. They are great in the sand and I think you'll be happy with it.
