mudcat 90
#1
I jsut recently ordered and received a mudcat 90 for my daughter. My husband assembled it to the best of his ability for it had no assembly directions but for the most part I believe he just had to put on the wheels and adjust the handle bars. We attempted to starrt it today and it will not start. It has gas and will turn over it just will not start and run. Anyone have one or have any advice..... This is a christmas present for my daughter and it will really suck if she gets a present that does not work.

Wow, that does suck. I would start by checking if it's getting fuel. There might be a screw on the lower side of the carb that you can loosen and fuel will run out of the bottom. IF this unit has this screw and gas leaks out when you loosen it, you are getting fuel. Is there a choke? Perhaps there are 2 fuel shut offs? Check all wire connections; make sure everything is plugged in and there are no loose wires. Next thing to check is if it has spark. I’m sure it is something simple and it will start. There is more to assembling the ATV then putting the wheels on; you have to check the whole unit for loose wires and nuts and bolts.

I don't know what Mudcat 90 is, but are you sure it's getting a spark?
And if it's similar to a Kazuma check the intake runner (between the carb and the head). We had two delivered in the crate with cracked intake runners. Easy to replace but irritating.
Otherwise, check for any vacuum leaks between the carb and head.

I know it is getting gas because at one point I had it flooded I could smell the gas. It turns over and even I think tried to start once. It is wxtremely discouraging with Christmas so close. I am beginning to think maybe it possibly has something to do with one of the kill switches or something I am at a loss as to what else it possibly could be. Any more suggestions anyone?
Thanks,
Lisa

On the back of that machine, there is a plug type kill switch, pull it off & push the little plunger thingy in with your finger & then try to start it, I know sometimes the plug in part does not push the plunger deal all the way in & you get no spark because of it... if this works either bypass that kill button or put some tape in it to build the plugin part up & plug it back in... hope that makes sense.

Make sure the plug boot is on good, any tethers are on good, the key is on, the kill switch is on, the fuel valve is on and the tank is full of gas. Make sure the fuel flows freely when the fuel line is removed. Squirt a little starter fluid in the intake side of the carb and light her up.

I do not sell the Mudcat, I believe other companies buy them from freedom scooters. (good luck getting a screw from them if you need it) if the motor say BTM or freedom something like that then that's the bike. Our XL and mini's look like that unit but a much better built. Long story short if you call me tomorrow I can probably get you up and going or a least figure out what is wrong with it, and most of our parts will fit the bike so if needed we can get you what you need to save Christmas.
