Hi Cowgirl, you may want to make sure the valves are adjusted properly. That is something that can cause the engine to start hard. Especially if it hasn't been done since new it won't be wasted energy to have them adjusted. Valve adjustment will also effect jetting. So it should be right before attemping any jetting modifications.
Good Luck.

Cowgirl, I live in Houston, Kazumas main headquarters are in Houston now. They have a huge warehouse, and showroom.I went there today to checkout some of there ATVS. I spoke to the parts manager for the US, He told me some of the pros/cons of some ATV lines they have.On the 250 issue about overheating, on some of the 250 s the rockerarm bolts are to high and at higher RPMS they hit the cover a cause the motor to misfire and skip, then you have a starting problem, change the bolts/ gasket that should solve that problem.Another problem is the electric choke, some of the chokes are junk ,change it out with the newer version and that should solve that problem. As far as overheating goes, the bike are not overheating, Its the sending unit that goes from the radiator to the motor, it keeps setting off the temp light. Bike is not running hot. When you buy a new ATV from this dealership they give you the bolts/gasket/temp sending unit/elect choke if you have these problems. Contact your dealer and tell them about this problem, Kazuma should replace these parts for free. The 250 line is new to kazuma,so they are learning as they are going. He told me that the 110 line has almost no problems, motor ,3 speed trans and the frame is built like a Mack truck, they hardly ever get any claims on this model.I hope this helps. Hey Cowgirl, you say there is no tube that I am talking about earlier.... there should be a air vent from the carb intake right to the carb itself...if that is not there, that is the problem... I just got done messing with one & then noticed this air vent tube was indeed missing right out of the crate... so be sure there is a vacuum line running from the intake to the carb itsself.... just a idea.
