I was thinking about this last night. I bet the engine was originally placed on the rear swingarm of the scooters and it is a direct drive with no chain. BUT when it was "borrowed" and moved forward on the atvs, they had to put a chain on to attach it to the rear axle?????

I need to see a pic of this engine/drive system. Im now even more confused. My yamoto 150 has a shaft with a sprocket where the rear wheel would be attatched if the engine was in a scooter. Is this quad a eton viper? I need to see a picture. Im a visual kind of learner.

OK. Ive been digging thru internet parts lists and Im still confused. Is the gear box that needs the oil in the CVT housing? On the drive end(rear)? Then its chain driven to the raer axle? The engine looks like the 150cc scooter engine.

The cvt housing (where the belt and pullies are) is dry inside. The front pulley is connected to the crank. The rear pulley is attach to the forward drive shaft. That drive shaft runs into a gear box through the back wall of the cvt. That shaft is attached to another shaft by a set of gears. The rear shaft is what my front sprocket is attached to. Those gears must be lubed.

Don't help much, do I?
