Go look at your rear brake drum ,there are 2 cables going to it,the rear brakes can be applied by either the peddle or the left brake lever ,or both

Well, no good luck.

I pulled each top valve cover off, and see nothing wrong, but it is locked up. The exhaust valve is open as I thought by looking through the spark plug hole. The intake valve lash looks fine.

I pulled left side cover off, cam sprocket will not turn motor over... also tried to turn clutch drum, no luck.

Had sprayed WD-40 in cylinder, and let sit, still no help, so I do not think it is just stuck rings. Bike roles fine in neutral, but is locked in every gear, so I really do not think it is the transmission either. Also no rear end noise and pushed easy in neutral, so I doubt rear end is bad.

I do not have a manual for this motor. If I mark cam sproket and chain for timing, then pull top cylinder off, is there anything else I need to mark, or remove before pulling head and jug?

I am traveling again, so will be a few days before working on it...

Thanks for the help! Please keep it coming.

to bad you have friends you think you could trust, now you know why the atv been sitting for two years, i could see the carburator going bad just sitting their for two years if the gas wasn't run out it, but the engine just isn't going to break sitting, what i do next would be to drain the oil ,( if their is any) and look for metal, the oil is usally the first indiciator of engine damage
