Default Improvement Ideas for the Jet-moto 125/Or options

I know these are low cost 4 wheelers & I have no clue as to what these improvement would add to the end cost of manufacturing them, but here are some ideas or options I would like to see on a already sweet looking beefy quad.

The main thing I would like to see is a foot brake for the rear brakes.I think that it is to confusing for a kid to learn that the left lever is for the rear brakes & have no foot brake. If they ride alot this becomes becomes engraved in there heads & like a automatic reflex to pull the left lever to apply the rear brakes.Any way after they grow & step up to a bigger sport quad with a clutch on the left lever & only a foot brake to do what the left hand use to do, things could get confusing & they have to relearn every thing again.

Some other things I saw from looking at the pics on there web site would be to put the rear brake caliper on top out of harms way & also run the rear brake line up on the top of the swing arm.
Also maybe add a cross bar on the handle bars so they will not bend so easy if a roll over happens. I have not gotten the privlage to see one of these first hand & have no idea how the suspention is.But it seems like the rear shock is not tilted enough & may cause it to be stiff.I know these are back yard quads for most, but Im sure a few will venture on to some tough terrain & even the yard riders are at risk of hitting bumps & with the springy shock they put on some of these with no oil dampning , Im sure some will end up on there heads from the spring loaded shocks uncompressing with no dampning.

Some options to consider would be oil dampend shocks, performance pipe & air filter

From the pics I saw this seams to be a very beefy, well built 4 wheeler with a longer wheel base than most(which is great for stability),so this should be a great low cost 4 wheeler & I can't weight for the reviews to come in.

By the way ,my riding skills are much better than my spelling & grammer skills.

I agree the quads could do for some upgrades but for only spending 1200 dollars for a 125 or a 150cc quad leaves plenty of room for additional upgrades if someone wanted. Overall I dont think these models are really for advanced riders although if you read through my thread I started and see the beating I put my sons 150 Jetmoto through. You have a point with the suspension being springy and a little stiff but I only really noticed it when I was jumping doubles with it. For my ten year old son it's not been a problem and I really can't see anyone riding the quad anywhere close to how I had ridden it. The bars, there pretty standard for most bikes and quads from what I can tell cause my wifes Z400 came with the same type. The Jetmoto's are great for beginners to intermediate riders and I would really like to get ahold of the Jetmoto200 or the 250cccc quad and see how much difference there is. With wheel spacers it may just be a competitive quad.

Some things I would like to see are widened front and rear arms, an optional competition suspension kit, actually I would like to see a whole line of mods offered to see how far the Jetmoto will really go!!! I spoke with the JetmotoUSA and they said there preparing to offer a whole line of after market parts.

@ socaltoyman, Where did you see that the 200 is offered with a water cooled engine. The only info I have seen is on the raceway site which states it as being air cooled. I to am interested in this quad and wish it were water cooled. I also wish it was a little larger. A 250 or even a 350 to haul my fat **** around.

Later.......
Shawn

Man I fed some bad info, I dont know why I thought the 200cc was water cooled. They only make air cooled I guess but I could have sworn I saw one water cooled. If I find it I'll post the info but for now it's just the Jetmoto 125-250cc air cooled available. You might wanna check out the 250!!!

I am going to be picking up a 125 Jetmoto quad in a couple of weeks and making a better flowing hedder pipe and getting a better muffler set up on it too. Are there any other areas of this quad that could use improvement? Im open to all ideas.

And in talking to Eugene at Jetmoto, hes a little nervous about the reliability of a chinese water cooled engine. It may be a while before he uses one.

From the specs & photos I've seen the jet-moto 125 seems to be the best in the China made 110cc range quads & I have had 3 different brands so far in the last 9 months.
The front disc brakes are a nice touch,
(some of the other brands w/drum front cable operated brakes are just not very well designed. The cables are routed very bad with to many tight turns, which makes the lever to hard to pull for young hands & some are routed where they could get caught on the tie rod & damage the cable while turning & worse pull the cable causing one wheel to lock & pull the steering to one side.So please check your cable routing on such quads)
longer wheel base, beefy front controll arms & rear swing arm & what looks to be a pretty good suspention.

The main thing I would like to see is the foot brake & optional oil dampened shocks.

Socaltoyman It sounds like you definatly put that 150 to the test & beyond what most will throw at it.

As for the water cooled 200's, I would watch out for because of gasket failures & such. The guy I know that sold the water cooled 200 will not anymore because of the problems & headaches that come from customers after selling things that fail, over heat & leak water.Im not saying there all bad,but it would be best to test them & see if they are durable or not.

The footpegs need to be moved forward so it's in the middle and not towards the rear of the basket. The front basket guard could more durable and attached maybe even one piece. The forward / reverse should be moved and maybe some type of design similiar to the choke because the riders legs hit it all the time. The exhaust pipe should be moved a couple of inches from the oil drain so you can change the oil without covering the exhaust with it and also burning your hands. The rubber footpeg should be replaced with a traditional metal footpeg with teeth and not the rubber ones that come with it, they roll too when you jump or stand. Gas cap should be bigger because it does not close all the way it's only got like two threads inside. This is what I am currently making changes too for my sons 150 and should have all the machine work done this weekend from a friend of mine who owns a fabrication shop.

Is that to make more room for your sons foot? Or do you think its a better position to sit in?
It is fairly light weight.
Eugene and I have already discussed this problem and I havnt had time to get to it. I would love your ideas on this. I was thinking of a whole new lever style attatched to the frame out of the way.
I used the bolt on the left side of the engine. I just looked at a pic and the filter/screen bolt is close to the exhaust.
I have made 2 versions of a aluminum serrated clamp on foot pegs. Eugene has already sent them to China to be copied.
I never noticed that. Ill take a look at it the next time I go to my shop. By bigger do you mean deeper into the threads? Or bigger in diameter?
Sounds like a great deal socaltoyman. Let us know how it all goes and get some pics up if you can.

mywifesquad,

Footpegs should more forward of the basket so the palms of your feet rather than your heels are on the pegs.

Gas cap I mean more threads so that it screws onto the tank more fully. On the tank there's about 5 or 6 rows of threads and on the cap theres only two rows so when it's screwed on there's still about three full set's of threads showing on the tank.

I just put a set of wheel spacers on the mini falcon for my son and I have to say they are the best add on I could have made and can't wait to put a set on the 150.
I will hopefully have all my photos posted after this weekend I will try and have all my photos posted.

Here is a link to some photos of a change that I have been playing around with but I'm still undecided because it's more forward then the standard foot peg on quads but the whole basket seems to be more forward than most also. What does anyone else think?
