I have a Polaris Sportsman 90 2005 Limited Edition. When I bought it I was told by the dealer that this thing would keep its value and it being a LE It would get more for it for a trade in. Well my kids friends all have the pred 90 and they would like to trade in theres on a pred 90. I was told by the dealer that they would give me $1150 for my 05 SP90 LE. This thing was used only a few times. Then he said that he would sell me a 06 pred 90 for $1982 out the door price. $200 more for LE. Like I would pay ever again extra money for a LE.... Anyway the price on the pred 90 sounds good. But the trade in sounds really off. What do you guys think.

.

Whether it be a camper, auto or bike, one "most often" gets a much better selling price when selling privately. Especially if the item has customized mods. The dealer would "most often" sell the item at the same private sale price but needs some profit to cover their labor hours, over head shop costs and super cleaning costs. Also, some folks pay more for the same thing at a dealer because they feel the dealers has some sort of dealer backing. For example, some dealers include a 7 day immediate return, 15 day return less a service charge or 30 day minior part breakage support. Many private sellers don't offer this level of "extra" service.

For example. If bought some parts off Billy Holt. Way past his warranty period, one of the parts broke. This happens to any part. Billy immediately offered "free parts replacement + shipping charges". If I would have bought the same performance part at a private sale, the private seller would have instantly told me - to bad / no replacement.

Hope this helps...

I understand all that. But I've seen posted in these forums people buying 8 year old quads for the same price and more than what the dealer offered me. My quad is not even a year old.... And its worth more than $1100.... I'll be buying one more quad here this summer. But it wont be from that yahoo..... I guess I'll have to go honda.. That is the only other local dealer....
