>>new LT-Z50. It cannot even move over my foot, it lacks power and is running extremely poor.<<
As an experiment, I had my son pull his 2002 (2-stroke) LT-A50 up to a full-height curb over the weekend. With the front wheels against the curb, and from a full stop, he gave it some gas and it climbed right up and over the curb. I was very impressed. This is with three of the four engine restrictors still in place and the throttle screw tightened in about 2/3rds of the way.
We also clocked him on firm level ground: In its current configuration, the quad maxes out at 15-16 MPH. Most of the time we ride in front and behind him (two adults on two separate quads) and keep him to about 10 MPH.
That LT-A50 may not win any races, but it's a darned fine machine for a child to learn on and enjoy.

I FOUND THE PROBLEM! (At least on mine) After a lot of research with the bike, figured out that the e-brake switch that allows the starter to function also kicks in a CDI limiter that severly cuts power. This is to prevent overheat / burnout if a kid rides with the brake on . If you have even played with the switch, you may have stuck that microswitch / plunger and although the bike will start, it will run rough, weak and fat.
I weigh 220 and the bike that previously could not pull my 40 lb kid can haul me around the yard, up the driveway and keep going. ( I had already removed the clutch ring). What a difference.
I am very relieved, I thought I might have bought into a really underpowered machine. Turns out it was my own initial curiousity that probably caused the problem.
Best of luck to the rest of you, hope you find the cause of your problems.

I had tried to bypass the ebrake switch by removing the contact and keeping the plunger depressed, then zip tied it under the cowl. So I did it to myself. It allowed the quad to start without the ebrake set, which is nice, but that kicks in the rev limiter also. Funny thing is, when I reinstalled it after the problem appeared, something in the plunger switch must have remained in contact. It would still start without the ebrake on and still was limited.
There is no way around the e-brake contact that I can see except if you wanted to switch it out to a toggle switch. But at that point, it probably isn't worth it.
If you can't start the bike without the ebrake set, you could still have a problem within the CDI triggering the rev limiter. Anyone having the constant rev limit issue may want to have the dealer try switching out the CDI and/or switch.
