Giovanni 250cc
#13
Hi,
Two weeks ago, I got my new Giovannie 250cc. I rode it for 3 hours, and everything was fine. I covered 75% of it with a tarp, and then didn't ride it for 2 weeks because I'm storring it at a small campsite I own up north. When I went to start it, I needed to hook it up to my pick up truck cause the battery losts it's juice. That didn't seem to be a problem because I had to do that 2 weeks ago too. Once it started ( two weeks ago ) I took the jumpers off my truck and the alternater was strong enough to charge the batterie. Anyways, when I got the ATV going, the engine sounded like crap. It was loud, and smacked out blue smoke, and I coulnd' t keep it going. It wouldn't stay started. I gave up trying to keep the thing going because I was worried I was wrecking something. I thought I'd ask you guys first if this is what happened to you? Two weeks ago, it started up, purred like a kitten, and this week, it was sooo loud and obnoxious, I had to turn it off because I was worried I was wrecking the engine. Any comments would be great.

I purchased my 250 geo quad in Aug of /o8. The engine and frame bolts were all tight but the body bolts and rack all needed tightening. I had a problem starting when cold as the choke was mis-ajusted and would not close fully. Once ajusted the quad started fine. For the stiff throttle,I unhooked the top of the throttle cable and shot a lot of WD40 inside, this helped alot. After 4 months of riding the rear suspension is finally softer, but the front shocks & springs are still stiff. I run with about 5 lbs of air in the tires which helps.

so i was wondering about the stiff suspension so i quess it does get softer any ways but now i have a nother problem i was riding the quad and i went over a series of bumps not to fast but then the chain came off luckly i was close to home so me and my friend pushed it hom me and my dad have been trying to get the chain case off to get at the chain to see how to tighten it if any one has any help or instructions/tips please tell me cause i am having trouble tightening this chain.

To tighten the chain, use a 15mm and 19mm open end wrenches.
Loosen the 3 rearend bolts, One each side (beside the shock mounts) and one on the center sway arm, just infront of the rearend.
Use the 19mm on the 2 ajusting nuts that are facing rearward, this will slide the whole rearend and axles back. ( turn each bolt the same amount clockwise. eg 1/2 turn each.) until the chain has about 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch movement up and down.
Retighten the 3 rearend bolts 15mm and 19mm.

Make sure you have spark first.
If after trying to start, pull the plug, is it wet with gas or dry. Gives you a starting point on were to look.
There is a link above on BigDaddyTX post on "How to adjust a Chinese Quad Carb". This helped me out.
If that doesn't work try contacting this outstanding and helpful member ( 2manytoys ).
He may be able to help.
