Default Has anyone tried the Eton 70M (mini) 4 stroke?

Hi everyone,
I have searched the kids forums looking for any reports on the Eton 70M 4 stroke and not found any.
My children are 10 1/2 year old boy, and 6 year old girl.
My son is small for his age. They fit great on the Eton 70M.
Has anyone checked this quad out?
Does the 4 stroke have enought power to grow into?
It does not have front breakes, does the rear break have enought stopping power?
Any impressions or opinions welcomed!

Thanks
Steve

The 70 Viper and the 90 Viper are identical..the 70 has smaller tires. I actually put tires off a 90 Viper on to get more ground clearance. If I were you I would go with the 90 and use the speed adjuster as you see fit. My duaghter is 7 and I wish I had bought the 90. Go with the Viper and get the reverse..

Good luck

Hi cvc42
Thanks for the reply. The mini is even smaller than the standard Eton 70. I noticed the 90 but it looked way to big for my daughter.

Since you have the BTM's and the Eton, do you feel the quality of the Eton is worth the difference in price?

YES!!! Spend the money and save yourself the headache...it will be a safer quad for the kids. I spent way to much time cleaning out the bugs on the BTM (Chinese). My daughter would sit and watch the other kids ride while dad worked on the quad. Not a good feeling. Its worth it. I asked the same question you did and ignored the answer people gave me I went cheap.....and paid the price for it. Keep in mind you will have 2 riding this quad

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Thank you,
The prices are soooooo good on the quads from China I could buy 2 today and have my kids out on them next week. But when it sounds to good to be true, it most likely is.

One of the things I noticed about the quads from China is that they are narrow.
The quads from Taiwan seem to average 6 to 8 inches wider wheel spacing.
Do you find the BTM easier to tip over on turns or ruts and such?

Cheepguy, I am pretty sure the e-ton has front brakes too. I actually just went to a local dealership to look at them today. My son is 7 and I was interested in the 70's also. Not sure what the m retails for, but the 70 2 stroke may be a little cheaper and a little faster to boot. If you have a Gander Mountain nearby, go check out the Kolpin 50 and 90. The 90 is VERY similarly built to the E-tons, but just a bit bigger. They are made by Unison and appear to also be a good unit. They are also on sale right now in my area for 1299(90) and 999(50). I think you can make a go of it with the cheaper quads, but be prepared for some heartache and wrenching like mentioned above.

Stay away from the BTM. You might consider the 70 Viper as well....

Who carries the Etons here in Rochester?

Looks like there are no Gander Mountains out in CA where the OP is from.

Hi Scooter86

The full size 70cc Eton has front brakes, the (link to website) Eton 70M (mini) does not. I am hoping someone who owns one can let me know how well they work.

Geez, you are right! In that case I would go for the regular 70, I couldn't stand to only have rear brakes. Of course, the fronts are all mechanical drums, and not very effective, but it will beat having to retrain your kids to use front brakes later on, and is safer if they find a hill that is to steep.

Valder, 7-S Cycles in Leroy, NY has the E-tons. They actually had about 5 70's(both 2 and 4 stroke) 3 or 4 90's, and a few of the other models as well. They also carry Can-AM atvs, and have a decent selection of kids' riding gear.
