meercat 50 or 90cc?

thinking about getting my son an atv , would either one of these be able to ride groomed trails?the only bad parts on the trail system would be a few tall hill climbs, nothing as steep as to flip one over but some go up 100 or 300 feet tall, the keep the trails well graveled with almost no mud except off trail holes, but does it have enough power to make it with out stalling out. and as for the front suspension or lack there of im under the impression that its not that big of a deal for two reasons, one is when you only weigh fifty pounds there is not that much weigh to enguage a shock that much, and two how much travel could a front have even with double a arms? not much. i figure that when we go riding were not going to be tearing the trails up with my six year old, i just want something affordable that wont get him hurt. raceway has some good prices dont they! any imput would be appriciated

I think the Meerkat 50 and 90 are the same size. They just put a bigger motor in for some extra power. Have you seen a Meerkat in person? Find one local and have your son sit on it. They don't recommend these ATV's for kids under 6, but even the smallest 6 year old will be too big for the Meerkat. I started looking at them because they seem like a great deal for $500, but after seeing on in person I realized how small they are (44" long and 24" wide).
I'm now looking at the Kolpin Mini 50 (48" long and 32" wide) and the Kolpin 50 (57" long and 34" wide). These are both sold at Gander Mountain and cost more than the Meerkat, but not as much as a Polaris or Honda. They are made by Unison and are also called Desert Cat. You can find the Desert Cats for sale at Raceway ATV.
Good luck with your pruchase, let us know what you decide on.
